Shire Rose

Garry waited patiently, leaned back against the big tree in the warm afternoon winter-sun.

Now it came to pass that upon a certain day in the middle of winter did yule of Shire Rose ride boldly to Overhill for a secret meeting in the hidden room on the house of Master Gerebaldo Took.

Garrocar leaned back against a big tree, enjoying the warmth still given by the afternoon sun. Winter was nearing now and soon it would not be possible to sit here like this. As he watched one of the last of the leaves whirling it’s way down to the earth, he thought back of the recent events in his young life.

“I want my girls in Shire Rose again, Byco. As well as the lads ofcourse.”

Peppy arrived at the house in Overhill. The smell of freshly tanned leather overpowered the smell of the pine trees in the surrounding forest. He remembered standing here for the first time: Amorey took him to see the house in Overhill where she had grown up. She had shown him her room and the toys she played with as a young lassie.

What have I done? I took a big risk. I could have lost a lot that is dear to me and maybe I still can. What I did goes against all my guardian training: I lowered my defenses and opened up.

Dark clouds drifted across the sky above the village, obscuring the stars. A distant bell tolled the midnight message for the slumbering Shire. Fresh drizzle  was falling over the fields, and woodland as a cold Autumn wind blew. Beneath what was once known as Shire Rose's Hall, candles burned bright in their stands. The secret cavern hole reachable only by using a hidden passage in the in the Delving Fields, on the north side of the village of Bramblebury.

My life has taken another twist, a half-turn. It is amazing how many things can happen to a hobbit in just one day!
