A Rose that Blooms Again (Part 1)

Story

Garrocar leaned back against a big tree, enjoying the warmth still given by the afternoon sun. Winter was nearing now and soon it would not be possible to sit here like this. As he watched one of the last of the leaves whirling it’s way down to the earth, he thought back of the recent events in his young life.

Dark clouds drifted across the sky above the village, obscuring the stars. A distant bell tolled the midnight message for the slumbering Shire. Fresh drizzle  was falling over the fields, and woodland as a cold Autumn wind blew. Beneath what was once known as Shire Rose's Hall, candles burned bright in their stands. The secret cavern hole reachable only by using a hidden passage in the in the Delving Fields, on the north side of the village of Bramblebury.

My life has taken another twist, a half-turn. It is amazing how many things can happen to a hobbit in just one day!

The day Shire Rose's Hall was opened, I had an important task: I had to carry part of the gold needed for the puchase to Cousin yule. Why I ever decided to store it in the Bree vaults, is beyond me now. But I had no choice but to travel to Bree Town and collect it. It was a nice day for travelling, so I did not mind and neither did my pony Avornbelt who is always keen on running long stretches.

Ow, I love my life! I have never regretted leaving Oatbarton. Compared to where I've been so far, Oatbarton is a stuffy, dusty world of it's own with no conecction to the outside that are worth mentioning. I do have fond memories of that place and I do miss my parents and other friends and relatives that are still there. But no, I have no regrets.

Ink smudged by tears

Yule walked in silence towards the burrow where someone was waiting for her. Feeling rather dazed and in a bad mood she kept a steady paste in the hope the fresh air would clear her head from  too many thoughts. Still holding in her hand a letter,  she stopped for a moment to read again the  words, ink smudged by tears and a barely legible handwriting, then shook her head and started walking once more.

Yule looked at the bright star shining to the North in the early evening sky . Byco stood next to her in silence for a long moment, not wanting to interrupt her thoughts. As she moved, he followed. They walked in silence along the road to the west, leaving Bywater and the Green Dragon Inn behind. Her delicate feet still trying to get used to the ways of the hobbits. She paused to gaze upwards at the many stars enjoying the fresh night breeze blowing gently in her hair.
