Men of the Mark

The fires of farewell

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

There was an ominous aura of melancholy on the streets of Bancross in the days after the battle. The worried faces and itching sword-arms had been quietly replaced by tear-filled eyes, hunched backs and feet dragging on the ground behind them. While our dead could be counted in a handful, the pained and wounded were more plentiful; some with missing limbs, while others got away with only deep cuts and bruises. The east-borne enemy had not fared as well.

Entry for 16 May

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Diary

We said farewell to our kinsmen last night with the lighting of pyres in the center of the village near the mead-hall. I knew some of the fallen by name and face, but not intimately. I feel selfish for being thankful for this. Others are heartbroken. And while I have had my share of being broken with grief, I still can't muster a good reason why I should not suffer as they do.

Foolish thoughts, I know.

Remembering The Fallen

Under a dim and somber sky, Brynleigh assists Duncadda, Thilwend, and other soldiers in their construction of pyres to honor the fallen of Bancross, while Captain Denholm oversees the task.

Safe, at last

Once the horns sounded one last time, and the shouts of battle had slowly died out to an eerie silence, the danger was at long last over. The stress, fear and anxiety of the townspeople ended, though emotions still ran wild and rampant amongst them.

Young Ethel, old Agnes, Hearrd and others, who had taken refuge inside the meadhall, could finally come out and breathe the open air again. They were still alive, and the town was safe. For now.

Aftermath of the battle

Denholm, Thilwend and a couple of guards inspect the fields north of Bancross, the morning after the battle had ended. Many lives were lost, though only a few of those were brave rohirrim. Such is the nature of war; for it makes corpses of men, and widows of women. Their names will be remembered and honored by the living, who would not be living still, were it not for the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen.

Hail the victorious dead!

Silent Footprints

The silent footprints of a lost friend, sounds like a mute echo to Duncadda. Something is gone and never to return, wandered away from the green grasslands of Rohan.

The Pointless Path

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

High above the ground, an eagle is soaring over a small village surrounded by the great green grassland. It had learned in his early days that hunting the two leg’s animals could be a dangerous enterprise. Their sharp spears and arrows could tear him from the white clouded skies and bring him down into the eternal darkness. So he kept his distance, but something was drawing his attention towards the village nevertheless.

Stranger in the mark

There is a stranger roaming the lands around the village of Bancross, polite to those who approach him, but evasive towards the riders stationed at the garrison in the village.

The Bancross Mystery: The Veiled Storm

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story
It's late into the night and the winter storm tears through my clothes, preventing me from keeping warm. The wind seems to attack me with snow and rain in equal amounts, forming it into ice attaching itself to my hair, beard and clothes. The weather is unnatural for this part of the land and I have a feeling it's there to prevent me and my self appointed task.
