Background

Greetings to my loyal friends at the Kinship! I am granting the following charter to further give purpose and life to your order. Your name may be Durin’s Folk, but it may be more aptly regarded as Durin’s best: you honoured few must serve as the models for all other Dwarves to aspire to. Adherence to the Way of Durin has granted you all a special honour and a special responsibility: to excel in every aspect of Dwarven life and to help other Dwarves do the same. And it is expected of you all to utilise any means necessary to pursue this goal, with trade and lore as much as with war. Through your efforts, you bring honour to our house!

Ever at your service,

Thorin III, son of Dáin

DURIN'S FOLK

Sigin-tarâg

Late in the Third Age, with troubles rising and a shadow in the East, the King Under the Mountain, Dáin Náin's son Ironfoot, King of the Longbeards, ordered Duinn Muninn's son Drakenbane to establish the kinship of Durin's Folk to unite the Longbeards abroad and unify them under a single banner.

Durin's Folk is a kinship that has risen as a bastion for the dwarves, protecting and preserving the traditions they inherited from Durin through trade, lore, and war.

Durin's Folk has its base deep underground in Thorin’s Hall in the Blue Mountains, where they plan out their many expeditions and initiatives to celebrate Dwarven culture and to resist the shadow that threatens this culture. The Dwarves of Durin’s Folk also cooperate closely with their allies, both at home and abroad, in pursuit of this goal.

As the tumultuous events of the Third Age come to a close, the Dwarves of Durin’s Folk seek to build a new future for their people, one focused more on craft and lore and less on war. Will you have a hand in the building of this new world? If so, then join your kinsmen at Durin’s Folk and help claim that destiny that rightfully belongs to the Dwarves!

OUT OF CHARACTER INTRODUCTION

Durin's Folk, created in 2011 on the Laurelin [EU] server, is a heavy Dwarf RP kinship, unique because of a variety of reasons. Our kinship has a long, proud history and has always had a large presence in this server. Our kinship also strives to come as close to Tolkien's description of the dwarves as possible and offers players a chance to indulge themselves in this legendarium. But above all, we are a small, tight-knit group of Dwarves that feels like a family. So if you would like your Dwarf to be a part of this family, please feel free to reach out to one of our officers!

HONOUR, FRIENDSHIP AND A WILLING HEART!
