Background
-- Very Work-In-Progress --
Birth - 2832
Born to Mhund and Nikri in the Iron Hills towards the end of T.A 2852. Mhund and his kinsfolk had long dwelt in the Iron Hills whilst his mothers people had migrated following the destruction of Erebor by the dragon Smaug in T.A 2770.
The Battle of Five Armies - 2941
Maldurin was proud to be amongst the 500 strong force under command of King Dain II Ironfoot. His efforts garnered little note during the battle, opting to utilize shield and hammer within the ranks of less experienced warriors, though his father Mhund was fondly remembered as one of those famed Mattock-wielding Iron Hills Dwarves.
The Mithril Guard
Travelling westwards from the Iron Hills in the pursuit of adventure, renown and riches Maldurin eventually settled in the Blue Mountains and found himself in the company of The Mithril Guard and their current commander Vunar. He fell straight in with these Longbeards, taking to the roads of Eriador with the goal of maintain safe travel for the various traders to and from the Dwarvern Holds.
Durin's Folk
The Mithril Guard had disbanded for one reason or another, such was their way, which left Maldurin still calling the Blue Mountains home despite lacking any clear purpose. It was then he heard the call from Lord Duinn Drakenbane. Duinn and those of his kinship had been known to Maldurin since his arrival in Thorins Hall, and had since taken up many responsibilities once held by the Mithril Guard though with a focus on Ered Luin rather than the greater lands of Eriador and Rhovannion
Thrains Guard through and through. A scouting role suited him better than any, including himself, might have suspected. Maldurin was among the first of his kinsman assigned to the unit and soon held positions of command within it.
Khuzd Belkul
Whilst not truly old for a Dwarf he was certainly of increased years for a Dwarf tending towards the hard living of a scouting force, and this fact wasn't lost on him nor those who shared his company. It was often spoken among the Dwarves of Durin's Folk that at a point in his life a decision had to be made. A family or a craft, and Maldurin had never been one for catching the attention of the females of the Blue Mountains (Nor their fathers..)
The choice was made, and he was to follow in the steps of his mothers kinsfolk. He was to be a Jeweler, a skill he'd learned during his younger years before his legs had taken him off to adventure and one he now had the time to master.
Under the leadership of Kandral Strongbeard he joined the ranks of Khuzd Belkul, a faction within Durin's Folk responsible for the histories, traditions and cataloging. Despite his efforts to take a backstep from the military efforts of his kinsfolk, it was not uncommon for Maldurin to be counted amongst the ranks of Dwarves taking to the battlefield in skirmishes against the foes of the Free Peoples.
War of the Ring ends - 3019
With his two-hundredth year almost within reach Maldurin ventured off once more. First returning home to the Iron Hills then to the Lonely Mountain of Erebor. Time was spent amongst his ever distant relatives for a period longer than any of them expected, though the Blue Mountains called him back to them once more and he admitted to them truly being his home. He settled amongst the Hold of Ulfhirth with the intention of growing old gracefully..
