Greengrove, the odd forester, meets Ryheric and Cwen outside Hengstacer Farm so that he and Ryheric could conclude their agreement. Little did Ryheric know the meeting would result in the next chapter rather than a conclusion...

Disturbance

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

It was not common for Ryheric to receive letters these days. Few who knew him had any idea where he was. So, after a long few days out at the lumber mill near Combe, it was with a wary sidelong glance he accepted a note addressed to him at the bar.

The companions he'd grown close to over the last two years were far away in Gondor. A lurking numbness formed in his gut. The warrior's calloused fingertips found purchase on the warm, chalky paper. That numb feeling rode the expectation that someone he cared about had died.

Teal (Winnie's Song)

When Ryheric played Winnie's song, it was to the count of five. Sweet melodies were held aloft as the music urged on, only to stumble and cut itself off. Confusion, quiet overwhelm. The tune would forge ahead to a different section. Or, it would change to chords. Urgent relaxation, breaths between surges of earnest energy. Lovely, unfinished, and sometimes lost.

He saw teal when he looked at her, and this music was for her.

Teaching Bryn to Fish

---Seven months earlier---
"Didn' ye ever learn from yer father?"
Perhaps it was Aiden's death that caused Ryheric to be hard towards Bryn up until that point. Another peer of similar age. A man who could be like a brother. But Bryn was so much more sheltered, more fragile. It bought an easy, instinctive resentment from Ryheric to whom grief was foreign even as it ate at him deep down.

Ryheric's theme for Atharann, the ranger who had experienced hardships, death, loss and fuel for violence and war throughout his long life.

Often, Atharann was separated from the group and operated alone. Ryheric often wondered about him during those times.

(( This is an orchestrated soundtrack piece. Ryheric's original lute piece is represented by the sound of the guitar.))

The Silver Mirror (Silver's Song)

A year ago, Ryheric played three songs for his former lover Silver on the cliffs.

The first was Rain Ghost, the piece of music for when he'd first seen her on the stairs of the Prancing Pony. The despairing woman, fatalistic, existing.

The second was The Noose. The state of him that she had discovered and further invoked. He had learned more from this damaged woman than she would ever know.

The Black Horse

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

Ceilawynn's mare, Mouse, had fallen during a desperate pursuit. The mare had been shot. Stumbled, but still managed to carry her mistress at break-neck pace, forward, until Tarsorel could grab the girl and pull her onto his horse before Mouse buckled and fell  behind.

The chase was too sensational for the small deed of the mare to be noticed, but Ryheric knew horses. When the story was told to him by the girl in tears, Ryheric knew Mouse had been a hero.

Meadow Leaf - Narlindwen, the Maiden of Tales.

This is Ryheric's theme for Cwenawynn, a young refugee from Rohan. From the start, he had been unusually protective of the young maiden. That instinct has only grown.

"Don't be scared, Cwennie." The murmured words had become his mantra to ease her. The simplicity of Ryheric always seemed to calm the Rohirric girl who had lost everything. The others called her Narlindwen now, the Maiden of Tales. He knew he had nothing to offer her. He was a dubious foreigner and Cwenawynn came from a good house of Rohan. Still, he would protect her for as long as he could.

Tarsorel and Ryheric's Duel

----Several months earlier than the present----
His accent was suddenly Gondorian, reminiscent of Minas Tirith natives as he addressed the old soldier. His tone like lead.
"
Tarsorel, I challenge you to a duel. To first blood. Any weapons allowed."
It appeared that someone had finally taught Ryheric the proper, socially acceptable way to settle a score using violence.
