Appearance

Dinengel stands at about 6'4" (1.9m). He has a lean build, and weighs about 180lbs (81.6kg). His skin is lightly tanned, and his hair is shaggy, dark and long, with thin strands of grey. Around his grey-green eyes are light wrinkles, topped off with dark eyebrows. If one caught sight of his lower face beneath his mask, they would see deep burn scars reaching about half way down his neck. His hands are calloused, and very rough.

Apparel

Dinengel's dark green and rusty brown attire is framed by an olive green cloak, with frayed edges. He keeps a hood pulled up over his head most often, and his lower face is masked. His dark brown leather boots are caked with mud and covered in grass stains. Dinengel wears a belt at his waist with several pockets and pouches for holding supplies.

Arnorian Longsword
Dinengel's sword is of common Arnorian craftsmanship. It's hilt is sized for a hand and a half, and it's blade is 30 inches long. This sword replaced the one he lost to the Trev Duvardain commander, Zorzimril.

Supplies

In a small pouch, he carries a few supplies, such as a small pinch of  athelas, and a wallet of waybread wafers (not the same as lembas, although with a similar, less potent effect).

Background

Dinengel son of Berengel was born in the year 2947 of the Third Age. As an infant, Dinengel was very intuitive. At only 6 months old, Dinengel had learned to walk, and by the age of three, he could read and write in both Westron and Sindarin.

As Dinengel approached his adolescence, his father began to teach the skills necessary to survive in the wilderness. Before long, Dinengel could survive on his own. He was especially adept at moving unseen and unheard through the forest.

Dinengel was apprenticed by his father from the age of fifteen to nineteen. Afterwards, Dinengel was posted at Sarn Ford and remained there for several years. When Dinengel reached the age of thirty, he received word that his father had been slain by an orc party traveling through the Ettenmoors.

Upon hearing news of his father's death, Dinengel took up his father's post patrolling the Ettenmoors. As time passed and the shadow of Sauron stretched ever further, Dinengel found himself more often engaged with orcs in the moors. He sent word to Halbarad to send reinforcements to clear out the growing population of orcs, and before long a small party of 25 rangers moved in to ambush an orc camp at the steps of Gram.

It is in this raid that Dinengel was knocked unconscious, and was trapped beneath a fallen tent, set aflame by a torch. Dinengel was rescued by Halthorn, and a strong bond of fellowship was formed between the two rangers. Many of the orcs fled from their encampment, and the rangers retreated to Imladris to rest and regain their strength.

In Dinengel's fiftieth year, he began wandering in the wilds of Eriador. During these travels, he spent some time in Forochel, learning about the ways of the Lossoth, and honing his skills to survive in the cold climate. He also traveled south, to the elven ruins in Eregion. Dinengel spent several months tracking a party of hill-men led by Zorzimril in the lone-lands, eventually making his way to Annuminas and helped fend off the forces of Angmar.

Dinengel can be characterized as loyal, strong-willed, and intuitive. He has no other names, as he is rarely seen by middle-men, and his enemies often can't muster words with knives in their backs, or do not know of him at all.

His greatest strength is his ability to move unseen, which surpasses even most of his kin. He is very strategic in his approach to combat, and is very capable of planning ambushes and surprise attacks on unsuspecting enemies.

Dinengel seems to nearly never talk, not even to his kin, and prefers to use signals or motions to communicate. Dinengel never seems to eat with others, and tends to either walk away, or at least turn away from a group while eating. Dinengel often keeps himself isolated from others, and sometimes even his kin.
