[Day 458]

Day 458

This day turned out more pleasant than I ever could have hoped when I came to these lands. Our morning was spent as usual, taking a walk around the nearby land and settlements to take in the sights and speak with the people who would give us their time.
When evening came we thought to walk to the town of Bree to visit it again but we were halted by a beautiful tree we came across and thought it perfect for the gift we wish to leave our hosts.

My companion had to return to the Inn we have been staying in and while I waited I continued the work. I was surprised when I heard the familiar voice of Conrob who came riding my way. We exchanged greetings and he told me that he and Brynleigh had this day bonded in marriage.
It brought me great joy to hear such but my joy did not end there when the man I had only just met invited me to share in their celebration. I was overwhelmed and asked if he would allow my companion to join as well, he welcomed it.

In his rush to the celebration and my own joy it was forgotten to give me the place of where this celebration was held. My companion had joined me at this time and I shared the news. His shock of the invitation amused me.
I prayed fortune would aid us to find the celebration and barely had I finished my prayer when a man rode past us and greeted. We exchanged a few words and as fortune would have it he was making his way to this celebration as well. I asked if we would be allowed to follow and he agreed.

I learned his name was Khazim and from the talk we had we came to understand that he has traveled here from the land of Haradrim. I felt my companion's worry but it soon passed. For this man could not truly be as cruel as the tales tell if he has been invited to such a celebration.
I remember him from the Bree tavern where he brought out a blade against the mad map-maker. I spoke with him briefly then and no harm was done. I shall hope he will remember to keep his hand from the hilt of his weapon while he stays within the town else trust towards the foreign man may falter.

Upon entering the joy, warmth and love of all who were within embraced me and I shared in the energy that filled me. My cheeks ached from the wide smile my lips pulled. It has been far too long since I have enjoyed such a feeling of merriment from a gathering, so pure and beautiful.
We gave our greetings to the husband and wife as well as our thanks to have been allowed to come. While we were strangers we were not bothered but neither did we wish to stand in the way of the others and so we found ourselves a seat. There we prepared the gift for the newly joined.

*the writing continues on the other side of the same page*

I have sacrificed a page from my journal so that we could give them this gift. I do not mourn it, I celebrate it.
He was careful with his writing and to make such a talisman while in such warmth and love for the two makes it all the more powerful. The talisman shall keep their home and them protected for years to come once they hang it by their front door.

There was more joy to be had for as I listened and observed I could see a child in the arms of a woman. It was so tiny and so I can only assume this was the blessed child that was born the other night. I found it strange to bring such a young child here but it seemed to be at peace. How could it not with all the love that surrounded it.

We were granted to see the two step their first dance as husband and wife and what I saw around them I can never put to words. The dance of their energies woven in such harmony was truly a wonder to see. I am thankful and happy to have been allowed to see it and share in this celebration of love and union.

It was later we gave our gift to them and while confused they seemed happy for it. They needn't understand it but I will hope that our words shall be followed and the talisman hung by their door.
Not long after the pair made their way out to celebrate their love as one can only do away from prying eyes. To be joined as one.

To have been allowed to witness such celebration in this land is rare luck I had not expected to find. Our travel here has truly been blessed and fortune watches over us. It has been long since we've shared such company and it was wonderful.
It will be hard to part with these lands once the day comes but more lands need to be explored and I can only hope that it shall be as pleasant as the time spent here. We have much of Bree-land to explore yet but the day shall come soon when we take to the road to make way to the land of Shire.
