Journal Entry 22 : The Great East Road I

The Great East Road

After a few days of rest, Kirseth and myself began to plot our journey East. We decided to first stop at Bree to check in at the Hunter's Lodge and see if we could purchase a couple of reasonably priced steeds. The plan was to then journey East down the Great East Road, towards the Lone Lands. With our bags packed with travel supplies and rations, we left the comfort of Hookworth and hit the road.

The journey to Bree was rather uneventful, but the company made up for it.

Upon arriving at the gates of Bree-Town, I could not help but remember our first visit; full of suspicious scowls and mistrusting glares. This time, however, we were met with much more hospitality and warmth. I can only assume words of our deeds in the Barrow Downs had spread - though I assume becoming squires of 9522 hasn't hurt our reputation.

We made our way to the lodge, and were met with familiar faces. After catching up, we enquired about purchasing two steeds fit for a long journey. They offered two sturdy looking beasts with an asking price of eight silver pennies per steed; also offering some saddle-bags and horse feed thrown in - free of charge. We accepted the deal, handing over the sixteen pieces of silver. Though we have been earning a decent amount of coin, this purchase had taken a rather large chunk of our funds.

Night had begun to fall, so we made the decision to spend a little more coin to stay at the Inn. We stabled the horses behind the Prancing Pony, and rented a small room for the night.

As with most entries in this journal, I write this from the comfort of bed, shortly before retiring for the night.

I must be well rested for the journey ahead.
