Captain's Quick Report: Bird & Baby Yard Party ((June 4th 2015))

It has been case that most times my early reports are submitted to The Grey Repository, and it's Archives, is usually when such events are of the rare chance, and not so oft occurrence as say every week.  Unless of course, there is a particular thing to it that warrants a special advertising by the event organizers; in sources such as the event news bulletin for The Grey Repository, the Bramblebury Gazette, or even that recent one over yonder in Ered Luin, the Tablets of Khazadgund!

Yet today by way of a warm letter from Miss Acorne, I made my way to the Bird & Baby Inn far into the Shire-bounds, and to pen a report today on the grounds for special reason -- for there was a performance and musical Miss Acorne thought I might like to attend this time, despite my unsettling, nervous thoughts about appearing at these weekly events that quite seem more Hobbit-preferred to keep with traditions, compared to the more lenient occasions at yearly events that are more accepting of Tall Folk from out of bounds!

But there must be something in the air, perhaps it is the coming of the spring season, or the coming wedding of Master-Hobbit Silon and Miss-Hobbit Dassa; for when I arrived just in time to catch the last good hour or so of music and dancing -- it was most certainly seeming that the songs were all of a lovely nature... of love and affection!  Now of course a Bree Captain shan't assume things so easily, especially having not been there during the first half of the musical celebrations... but still, one can't help but speculate upon theories... it seems the coming wedding has touched the hearts and minds of many throughout the Shire, hoho!

From swaying melodies of love to a few more feet-tapping tunes of more jovial affection, the musicians (including Miss Acorne herself of the OAKS: Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series every month in Oldfurlong, and a Lady Everlin of the famed Maidens of Vanimor band) played and sung with spirited passion for today's weekly Bird & Baby yard party.  I certainly feel slightly more prepared and in the mood for Master Silon and Miss Dassa's wedding in just a day or two!

With this, despite my late attendance, some sketches and drawings of the sort was I able to make from my perspective of this event as a travelling representative of the Bree Captain's Guild -- and also of note are some drawings Master Everbrock, another friend in the Shire, has asked me to include with this submission to the Archives, showing some romantic glimpse of the lovely hobbits to be wed this coming Sixth day of the Month!

They have been attached with this letter for your perusal.  These drawings are fully credited Master Everbrock, don't forget!

Note: The two figures closest, besides the fellow immediately in the foreground bottom-left, are Master Silon (in the brown long-sleeved attire and similar chestnut-brown hair) and Miss Dassa (in the green short-sleeved dress, with two short twintails in her hair) respectively, from left to right.   They do make for a lovely-couple there, standing with what we must assume are happy grins and loving smiles on their faces (though we only see the back of their heads in these drawings!), surrounded by their fellow Hobbits and music that lifts the heart to cheer.  Surely, it is but a glimpse of the celebratory happiness that shall take place at the wedding itself!

Close to the end, I was also taken back slightly, but warmly thankful for a gift in drums by Miss Bilbeto, whom I believe is one of the main organizers of the weekly Bird & Baby Yard Party event, and then to Lady Everlin for mentoring me in it's basic instrumental use, right there on the spot!  Such kindness and swift helping of others these good folk from the Shire, and those of their dear friends, have tended to show this old Bree Captain time and time again.  Not to mention their excellent taste in food, song, dancing, and cheer too, hoho.

There is much to do before the wedding in just a few day's time, with Master Silon humbling me with the honor of being his best man... ah, or traditionally best hobbit?  Well, there is needless to say some amount of work this ol' Captain needs to finish preparations for!  Ah... err.. and I might have mistakenly assumed Lady Everlin was Miss Dassa's maid of honor having been chosen according to an earlier letter from Master Silon... dear me... I must stop with these jumping-to-conclusion-pitfalls I dig for myself!

As always, while a more full report shall follow sometime in the future, for now this early Quick Report will also include the attached sketches and drawings from my perspective; for your viewing convenience attached with this letter to the Archives.  And a warm congratulations to another weekly Bird & Baby Yard Party -- if your a hobbit, then certainly consider making yourself time to attend events like these as often as you like!   There's also the weekly Green Dragon Friday, or bi-weekly Michel Delving Market.  The weekly Bird and Baby Yard Party is only advertised on the Bramblebury Gazette, in their calendar section (no formal articles to advertise the event that I have found thus far every week, except on rare occasions when a special band comes to play), but ask around your fellow hobbits and they surely can help you find details to attend.  And now without further delay, this early report do I end, and return to other work, I begin!

Signed,

Captain Naismithea Willarc

Watcher of Roads
Representative of the Bree Captain's Guild
Officer of the Sworn Wanderers

P.S.

Word has also reached me through Commander Kristjon of The Northern Garrison, of a new campaign being organized -and now underway in the early stages- to address a growing threat from the lands north of Bree-land; the North Downs.  As part of the overall North Downs Campaign plan, this coming Sixth day of the Month is when another member of The Northern Garrison, First Marshal Mattharan. will be leading those Free Peoples rallied in Evendim to travel for the staging point of Esteldin.  Though due to the wedding of Master Silon and Miss Dassa on the same day, I will likely not make it in time, at least for this week's departure from Evendim's Tinnudir.  Nevertheless, with a relatively successful beginnings to the campaign in the previous weeks, I still put good heart and faith the chance to catch-up and aid The Northern Garrison with their mission will reveal itself to me yet, hoho!  After all, this campaign to bring together the Free Peoples... 'tis well in agreement with many of the Bree Captain's Guild guiding values I dare say!
