Captain's Quick Report: Invitation to Silon and Dassa's wedding

I do believe my skill at writing and riding at the same time is improving quite jovially!  For alas, 'tis just an hour past since leaving the cheerful music and dancing of Master Silon and Miss Dassa's wedding celebration, and now I ride hard through the Shire, in that familiar blur of time's passing and lands speeding by all so quickly during my frequent travels -- in order to reach Tinnudir, in Evendim.  For there is another task which demands my attention there, despite my reluctance to leave their cheerful spirit and company those dear halflings spread around.

But that will be for another report!  This one is not about the coming march from Evendim to the North Downs, but instead about the celebrations and joyful event that was Master Silon and Miss Dassa's matrimony!

As always hoho... where to start?  There is so much to share, and to write about!  Perhaps indeed, this will be one of the stronger examples where many things will have to be left for a more full, and detailed report at a later time...  But nevertheless, let me bring forth the news that their wedding was a most outstanding success.  With a masterful speech by Master Dallofin, as the ceremony-master and officiator, the two love-birds that were ol' Master Silon and Miss Dassa finally got around to kissing proper for all the audience's delight (and tears!), and with gusto did the gathering quickly turn to what Hobbits do best; cheerful celebrating!

The Starfraggles was the musical band arranged to play, and let this Bree Captain tell you; their choice of songs and melodies were astoundingly vast!  If the romantic songs of the Bird and Baby Yard Party a few days ago was anything to set the mood, these wonderful hobbits continued that moment and leapt forward the crowd into the stars of love and affectionate joy for all those they hold dear!  Truly, there must be very few ways such a wedding of two lovers could have been celebrated any better, especially given it was young Master Silon and Miss Dassa!  Also with luck, by the suggestion of Master Everbrock, we managed to get those two shy love-birds to dance at least one song up front of the crowd, but I noticed all too quickly they moved back humbly to the side of the gathering to resume their dancing there later... well, at least the song they danced to while up front was quite a fitting one at the time! Hoho!

I (with luck) did not have to give my best man... err, or is it best hobbits'-replacement?... speech, or, rather, more like short blessing -- for just then the urgent summons to make for Evendim at once to aid with The Northern Garrison's 'North Downs Campaign: Free Peoples of Evendim' came quickly during the celebrations, and I made my goodbyes, but warmest of wishes, for the lifelong joy of such good friends any folk could ask for in Miss Dassa and Master Silon.

On the way in the last half-hour since leaving Oldfurlong, where those dear hobbits must be still celebrating and dancing still -- I was able to pen another quick letter to a Lady Larksong, whom, due on my part to absent-minded silliness, I had fully ignored so rudely by mistake as I was saying my goodbyes -- and ended up missing the introduction Miss Dassa had been giving about her to me.  Lady Larksong, along with my personal letter, please do accept my apology once again!

With this quick report finished, I must hurry on my way as I leave the bounds of the Brockenborings I think, and now make for the final frontier of the Shire before Evendim arrives.  I've also become more adept at handling both letter-writing, and organizing collections of sketches and drawings, all while on horseback too, I believe.  This collection of rough sketches accompanying this early report for the Grey Repository Archives should hopefully do good credit to the celebrations well-deserved for Master Silon and Miss Dassa, and to all their friends and kin of the Shire whom hold high such a bright light of hope and inspiration, of vibrant life and joy, for so many of us elsewhere in Middle-earth to cherish as part of this world.

Congratulations, to Master Silon, and Miss Dassa!  I shall end finally with the short speech (blessing actually), that I was supposed to give at some point during the celebrations, I was told sometime close to after the music had ended and a few others (besides the wonderful Master Dallofin -- such as Miss Acorne) had shared a few words and songs of their own.  Nevertheless, here is what I had rehearsed...

Naismithea rumbles slightly with a warm chuckle and begins:

Both these two hobbits are an outstanding example of what we of the Big Folk in Bree-land so often lack in frequent number amongst our own, but makes for normal life amongst your kind; that abundant willingness to help others in the warmest of kindness and unhesitating moment.

Master Silon once helped me when my wallet refused to cooperate with a vendor of The Northern Garrison during a Farmer's Market in Buckland!

And Miss Dassa during a chance meeting in the streets of Combe, enlightened this old Bree Captain's understanding on the proper use of titles such as Miss or Missus towards your kin of small-folk, and even on other races for that matter!

Naismithea chuckles.

And so today, to each of you whom made the journey to celebrate with friends and fellow kin in matrimony of these two dear hobbits, onwards to the rest of the party -- and to the celebrations and good cheer of a lifelong joy for these now new-married couple!  Hurrah!

Naismithea cheers.

Naismithea bows towards Silon and Dassa.

Once again, good cheer and warmest tidings on my behalf of the Bree Captain's Guild to you both, Master Silon and Miss Dassa; perhaps someday far in the future, some might find this appropriate to say... Live long, and prosper!

Signed,

Captain Naismithea Willarc

Representative of the Bree Captain's Guild
Officer of the Sworn Wanderers

P.S.

On the horizon, I believe several upcoming events advertised in those hobbit's fond Bramblebury Gazette newspaper, and even mentioned on some of the event news boards for the Grey Repository, are the Grand Hobbit Summer Picnic (have you seen a wonderful set of moving pictures by Miss Lina from last year's Lobelia Hill Pie Rolling Run as part of the picnic?  Hoho, if I was a hobbit, this would be a must!  And what fine music they must have too!), and the Summer Poetry Competition In The Shire.  Shortly after that just a few days later too, is Miss Acorne's and her OAKS's "the June OAKS, first of a new series!" -- this will be the first one after the successful one-year anniversary 'Forest of OAKS!' several weeks ago.  While the first two is good to note if you be of a Tall Folk sort (like myself), be careful that the long journey to the Shire is appropriate for you, and that you politely stand well back of the crowd to allow the Little Folk to enjoy themselves proper.  The same would apply with no doubt to the OAKS event also, though that one it is traditionally quite open to one and all races to attend.  Always take care to not tread upon those dear halflings though, they are such a source of joy and hope to many of us, 'tis good to stand well back and allow them their space to preserve their joyful traditions and culture where possible.  If your a hobbit already on the other hand, well hoho, jump right in! Hohoho!
