Captain's Quick Report: Summer Nites bring Nocturnal Desires
The Oldfurlong Amazing Koncert Series, or OAKS, as the event each month is better known hence as, took place once more in Oldfurlong where many Hobbits dwell within that Southfarthing neighbourhood; and with it came therein a performance that had a most interesting start, and followed by tunes which seemed most suitable to what these musicians promised -- a feeling of 'nocturnal desires' indeed! Hoho!
There was at first an announcement that my ears caught wind of upon arrival -- something about the 'Nocturnal Desires' group themselves having been late and that Miss Acorne herself was out searching for them -- but in outstanding spirit, music did then begin to play from within the crowd itself; soon folk short and tall realized the band had been among the audience the whole time!
They played the first song scattered throughout these spectators and visitors, and then afterwards hence walked forward to gather, at the usual table, where many bands choose to stand; whereupon most others begin there from the very start. Hohoho!
With mustering difficulty, my mind at times could not quite place some of these melodies nor their origins, but others from nearby I overheard describe such opinions which seemed fitting; 'Metallic sounds' was a common remark, and there was certainly quite the moody atmosphere upon the rest of the tunes! It somehow did make you think of nightly darkness, but also within the music and many others -- a wanting desire... not quite brooding, but... unclaimed, undiscovered... not yet realized fully... it conjured a feeling that could best be described as 'Nocturnal Desires' indeed!
Along the way there was a birthday celebrated, many warm and familiar faces to see ( and some new, but related friends too! ), but there also was some other chatter which I picked up upon also; concerning things such as the next Harnkegger Games, and as well as an upcoming 'Wedmath Catfish Hunt' (which no doubt a proper article in the Bramblebury Gazette will be forthcoming soon with details) that Hobbits and friends from the Shire Angling Club will be organizing near the end of this Month.
It was, in all, quite the time as it ever merrily is at these gatherings in Oldfurlong in celebration of each month's OAKS events -- and it further perhaps added a most friendly spirit to the proceedings that this 'Nocturnal Desires' group seemed to be made of a fellowship of individuals, related to many other familiar names known among community circles in our parts of the land. They also did press for 'biscuit hat taxes' several times in a most amusing fashion as well... along with mentions of 'newts' and 'say bugs' too. It was most kind of them, now that I recall, to mention near the beginning that this concert would have no need to worry about those 'say bugs --', because there would be no lyrics to any of the songs! And so forth did they follow through with that promise -- so it was on towards much more a night of simply enjoying the melodies themselves ( though many could be seen still doing the 'say bug' dance which the victim walks close to the stage, musicians or speakers as if to hear better, hoho! ).
As I travel back along the roadways to Bree-land, there is already the work of most talented artists whom have once more captured lovely moving drawings from hence their take of the musical event ended just hours ago, it is certainly worth a look when I had time to stop by and peer closely for short while.
Well done to the 'Nocturnal Desires', and another successful OAKS amongst that outstanding neighbourhood of Oldfurlong!

P.S.
Tales and rumours from tidings far away have come in recently that tell of folk from Rohan soon celebrating a 'Night of Riddling', Elves in fabled Rivendell Valley partaking in their 'Dance of Summer', and more recently news of Hobbits planning their annual 'Grand Summer Picnic' to happen at the end of this Month as well ( which as seen in the latest edition of the Bramblebury Gazette's front page at this time of writing, appears to be right after the fishing trip event taking place the day before. ).
All this would also bespeak of the rumours happening to concern the official day Summer Festival celebrations and activities that will soon blossom all over Middle-Earth as well -- it seems much of the Free Peoples have begun well into the season of summer as this Month begins, and continues on!
