0.1 Prologue: The Thanduil Brothers

Story

When the wedding has finally ended I've decided that the time has come to find our mother who has been missing for so long now. We have sent the word around all of Gondor to find people who might know anything about her fate or just simply want to join us in our journey as we knew that Gwathrian has travelled north a long time ago. Our family was a wealthy one and we were known as a military family for ages. Many have tried to associate with us and we were hoping that at least some of them would help us in our time of trouble. The time was passing but no one seemed to show up.

I met my father on the way and told him everything. He has agreed to go with me to the rescue of The Champion. We then followed all the way to the place where her trail led us. My father was following me silently. I had that feeling that he trusted my leadership somehow. I took cower behind a large rock to spy on the towers' defences and soon only issue around were the two nearby guards. We stayed silent to spy on them as we weren't sure if the Champion was still there.

We have gathered and prepared to pull off the rescue of my brothers. I seemed to be calm but Iarvenil was really nervous to return there. After a long journey we finally stopped on the border of North Ithilien and the Morgul Vale. "Do you see them anywhere?" - I asked Iarvenil as we were supposed to meet our friends and the elf here. He had spotted a large eagle that landed on a tree branch not far from us and looked in our direction. It couldn't be a wild eagle, it seemed like its owner was somewhere near. He pointed it out to me.

And so we have gathered and prepared to pull off the rescue of my brother. Araithil seemed to be calm but I was really nervous to return there. I was also wondering what happened to Iarnuil, as I felt frightening emptiness in my life after I've lost him. After a long journey we finally stopped on the border of North Ithilien and the Morgul Vale. "Do you see them anywhere?" - Araithil asked me as we were supposed to meet our friends and the elf here. I looked around and only one thing caught my attention.

I left the White City not long after, to find my father in family residence in Belfalas. I didn't have time for long writings. He was broken by the news and so I needed to stop him from making silly moves. We joined some allies and soon, made our way to the Vale once again, to find them.

I stayed on the island and decided to await any news that may come this way. I was growing more worried with each passing moment. I closed my eyes and memories came flashing into my head. Soon I was back in the garden of our family home in Belfalas. I heard laughter all around me. I turned my head to see two boys running towards me and I smiled at them. "Mom... Nethillon and Araithil said that we cannot train swordplay with them, that's unfair!" - both of them said in the same time. I shook my head at them and embraced them.

As soon as I have reached Osgiliath I requested a piece of paper and coal. Then I scribbled the orders and news I was given.

To Any That Survived The Battle

Abandon the task and the city! Fall back to Minas Tirith. Flying beasts are coming for you. We are defeated. No one can escape if you won't abandon the task. Retreat and flee for your life.

And so we kept fighting as we secured the gate against the attack and they reinforcements arrived as well. Many of the men were already tired by the fight but they kept fighting. Soon various locations around this side of the city were secured by us and the time has come to cross the Great Bridge. We fought them off and cleansed most of the city. Finally, our final destination was before them. The North Ithilien Gate - The place where our fates were about to be decided. Both armies started their movement. I looked at Barandur. "So... this is the time, my friend.

We separated the army into three groups. Two of them backed off as the first one was to force the gate reinforcements and push back the orcs enough for the others to ride in. I joined the first group and soon we rode into the thrill of battle. First volley of enemy's arrows reached us as we were close to the city. Some of us fell while the rest including myself kept riding towards the gate ruins and barricades. I shot one of my first arrows with a bit of flame setting the barricade on fire then afterwards followed four other soldiers into the city.

We have reached Minas Tirith hours after the first group did. We moved through the city towards our family home. Araithil was leading the three of us when he spotted Nethillon passing by. He wasn't even looking at us. He seemed really devastated as he passed. We moved to the door and as he opened it he felt stunned. I just watched with Iarnuil as we were confused with all that. Our parents stood there by the door embracing each other. We were standing there in silence until they let go of each other and looked at us. "Araithil, Iarnuil, Iarvenil...
