Hithaeglir

The Book of the Axe

Author:
IC the chronicle is managed by Manadhlaer with help from her secretary, Sarmëtecil

Times are desperate indeed when the Dwarrow of Hrimbarg are sufficiently rattled to seek help in Imladris. A baffling theft of an heirloom -- priceless to the owner and his family, but completely ordinary to any other Dwarf -- under mysterious circumstances prompts Master Harnack to seek the Elves of Imladris.

I knew it should be no more than a short journey. I also knew that stretch of the pass was often home to wargs. No matter. Unless it was more than half a dozen we should be fine.

And so we proceeded, I still leading the way, though I suspected Estarfin knew it well enough from patrols.

I remained on Pelorian for a moment, uncertain what he was looking for. Then he said, ”I remember walking this bridge with Daegond, many years ago. The snow was heavier, it was colder…but….” He stamped firmly on the bridge. “Same bridge.”

Return to Isengard, Part 1

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

Thibinoriel, Celebthondil, and members of their family sat comfortably at their dining table as they broke their fast. Suddenly, there came a knock at the door which Thibinoriel answered. It was a messenger bearing a note from Lady Galadriel. Thibinoriel thanked the messenger and placed a small green gem in his hand. She carefully opened the note and began to silently read it. When she had finished she returned to the dining table to share the news.

We travelled over the Hithaeglir, it not being particularly bad weather, nor their being any reports in Imladris of troubles outside the known goblin areas. I did not want a repeat of the last time Estarfin and I had been in that place.

We rode steadily, until we came to the paved bridge that led to the North High Pass. Estarfin dismounted, and walked close to the edge that, despite the swirling snow, the land below could partly be made out.

So he stood for a short while, until I too dismounted, and walked to stand near him.
