11th Annual Grand Elven Ball Menu



As the tradition has it, we have specialities from many Elven areas; Lindon, Lothlórien and of course only the best local treats from Imladris. The food is cooked by Telpenaro of Nargothrond, a passionate farmer and a chef.

Guests will find a selection of food on the tables, free for them to take.

 

Welcome Cup

 

  • A special drink made of apple and cranberries.

 

Appetizers

 

  • Bread: Fresh, still warm selection of bread from the oven. Butter is found near.
  • Soup: Vegetable soup with parsnips, carrot, leek, ginger, lentils and parsley.
  • Seaweed Fish Rolls: Salted and thinly cut fresh salmon, rolled into dried sheets of edible Lindon seaweed with oats, salmon caviar, cucumber and seasonings. A recipe originally from Tol Eressëa.
  • Oysters of Lindon: Oysters imported from the divers of Lindon, brought alive to Rivendell with a great care. Fresh, slightly sour creamy sauce with dill to garnish them with if desired.
  • Cheese Table: Selection of cheese from Telpenaro's cellar.
  • Sausage Surprise: Different cuts of meat prepared into flavourful sausages according to the recipe of Hír Daegond.

 

Main Course

 

  • Meat: Grilled skewers with venison or boar, gourd, chanterelles and red onions.
  • Fish: Fried zander fillet with thyme, garlic and sea salt.
  • Poultry: Roasted chicken with wine, saffron and pepper.
  • Vegetables: Pie with wild morel and yellowfoot mushrooms and seasoned with pepper and chervil.

 

Side Dishes

 

  • Salad: Green salad with endive, fennel, watercress, cucumber and pear.
  • Dressing: Lemon based, herbed salad dressing.
  • Fruit: Selection of fresh fruit from Telpenaro's greenhouse, including melon wedges.
  • Potato Spheres: Small round balls of potato fried golden in butter.

 

Drinks

 

  • Dorwinion and wine from Limael's vinyard with Sogadan's assistance.

 

Dessert

 

  • Crepes: Crepes and mallorn honey with sliced and baked apple.

Enyalindil

Name: Enyalindil (Memory Lily)

This lily shaped giant cake, its vibrant colours and rich flavours are meant to celebrate the brightest of our memories and those yet to come. Its batter has been infused with rose water and filled with marmalades made of pear. It has plenty of meringue buttercream inside and outside. In the middle a stemmed bowl has been set like the center of a flower. It has rolled wafers which have the matching rose and pear flavours.
