"That went well enough, didn't it, Honeycake?
Heriwulf did a good job pinning down what needs to be done. I'm still not sure how the bits of metal work. I mean, how can I know what it's worth? I know how long it takes me fell a tree, and how much food it'll take to get the work done. How do I know how many bits of metal I should get for that? Maybe... maybe the metal is worth a lot because metal working is hard, and making little bits of it can be even harder.
The camp is off this way, we need to tell Plank-hewer and Tree-feller about the huts along the boundaries. They won't be too pleased at the extra work, I know, but we can't have a cold wet winter making things unpleasant for the hounds. I probably won't really need them to help with the hound huts so much, but I will want them to help with the birthing kennel. We have to remember to bring in more wood often. Won't be hard, though because Nightingale's cooking is so good, we'll be there as often as we can.
Wait, hold up, why haven't we seen this tree before? Look at that, Honeycake! It's so tall and straight! Plank-hewer will be so happy about it! I'll just tie a bit of twine around the trunk... hmmm maybe I should shift some of this underbrush so it'll catch the eye better. We'll want to fell this before winter sets in. You remember this place, Honeycake, so we can bring Tree-feller back here.
Honeycake? Oh... oh yeah I hear it now. That wolf is pretty far away but we best make our way to the camp more quickly. Come on, girl, we need to tell the men about the bits of metal, the boundary huts, the birthing kennel, firewood, and chinking and daubing the clan house.
I wonder if I could get bits of metal for fixing up some of those homes in Staddle or Combe. More I think on it, the more sense it makes. Bits of metal won't go bad like potatoes do. Though I suppose they could rust away. I wonder how you stop them rusting. Probably have to keep them dry. Nice oiled hide pouch or something. I wonder how big they are? Maybe they're too big for a pouch! Doesn't make sense, how could you carry around so much big metal? Still, they'll stay good longer than potatoes. Almost there now, see that's the first stump from the first tree.
Halloo the camp! I've all sorts of news from the moot and I brought back food from the meal for you!"
