Log 5: Entry 16

The surgery preformed has been a success, the skin was removed and damage is minimal. Aeruthuil has agreed to stay in my care while his chest recovers.
This has been a good opportunity for Ruevir to learn more, both in regards to the work itself and speaking with the patient to keep their mind busy during such procedure. It's good to see her interested and eager to learn, willing to work. She's a fine apprentice and I'm able to put my focus on her, as no one else has asked to be taught.

I'll have to call for miss Alys to help clean up the barbershop. The man lost some blood and it's seeping into the wood. I'll have to remember to ask about her mother and see if she's taken my advice.

I'm still not sure what to make of the conversation I had with Aeruthuil after I had finished the work. Perhaps he was drunker than either of us expected and he was speaking out of sense, or his words are true.
It's become strange how comfortable I find myself in the company of misfits and outsiders. Birds of a feather flock together, that is what they say. Often forgetting how it ends; -until the cat comes.
I'm still not certain how much trust I can put into these few I find myself comfortable around, but some trust I've given them none the less. I've spoken my secrets to them, and they have given theirs in turn. A mutual trade to build trust, I'd like to think. It is easy to connect with them. Strange to think that it took me so long and a journey far up into the north to realize all this. Perhaps the infirmary shall end up as a place for the sick and a haven for misfits. Wouldn't that be amusing.
