Book 2. Log 4: Entry 3

Patient: Man, female, young adult
Syndrome: Unnatural scarring
Treatment: Skin removal

A former patient returned to seek my assistance in a matter that required a portion of her skin to be removed. A simple enough procedure, if painful.
It was an ample opportunity to test the new mixture and it proved successful. While she was not without pain, it was greatly lessened and by keeping her mind distracted, the patient remained mostly still.
The topic of discussion during the procedure was of a personal manner. While I am not fond of engaging too much in such, I indulged her. With luck, the drowsing elixir will have kept her from remembering most of it.
I may have to attempt to rearrange the portions again, to see if it's possible to remove the pain completely while leaving the patient conscious during surgery.

I've given her pain relief to use for the upcoming week along with a change of dressing and salve. I will hope she is able to follow instructions and not attempt more than her body allows.
She spoke of Masters Bíld and Maddoct, two I have not seen in a long while. While I'm informed that the latter no longer practices, I can hope that one of the two shall be able willing to aid the woman to change her dressing and keep the wound clean. It will be three to four weeks until the cut is completely sealed again.

    * Prepare the second week kit.

I have had a second visit from that woman, I am still uncertain what to make of her. It is hard to see what she is after, her manner of speaking would make her appear learned to most, but much of it has been empty words and contradictions. I question whether her thoughts are her own or simply mimicked quotes from books of thinkers that came before.
I do not know if she is playing a game or there is something else, but I shall have to be wary. The woman has already mentioned rivalry and while I hold little care for such, I will have to lock away my research and secrets. Her tactics in obtaining knowledge are lacking and questionable at best, but I will take no risks.

Mister Dogrose came by before dawn this morning, asking for assistance to remove a body from a family's home. I agreed.
I did not manage to get much out of the family in regards to the deceased one's heath, the grief did not leave them too willing to speak. A quick examination suggested lung fever, but the man's stomach was unusually swollen and hard to the touch.
With permission from the undertaker and family, I've brought the man back to the infirmary for further examination. Mister Dogrose has given me a day before the body must be prepared and buried, reasoning that it's uncertain when the earth frost will start to form.
