One contact now, amongst these lakeside wardens at Tinnudir. I had observed him one or two days amongst his fellows, before he began to speak to me. Tall, even for one of these northern men, not badly presented, tho' apt to slouch. A good reach to his arms, and a keen eye for detail - even if he lacks discipline, and indeed, regular bathing.
I warrant however he is a handy lad to have beside you if trouble is near.
....
The northerner approached again today. He is named Amlarad, and, if what he says is true, and I have no reason to doubt, he is sworn to the leader - some erstwhile lord - hereabouts. He mentioned a blue lady - he seemed uncertain as to what she was. Not elfkin he said - I warrant some old folk tale of the smallfolk here - seamed together with legend - and now believed as fact what is mere superstition. He seemed unable to take me to her presence in order to introduce myself to what passes as leadership in these barren lands.
No matter, the work we do here will be introduction enough; should some lord - or lady - take interest then I will be pleased to demonstrate the abilities of Gondor.
