Adventures of Chaney Oakleaf Book3 Part7

The Shattering of a Dawn(er) Part 1

Chaney had been slipping in and out of consciousness for some days now. She had been trying to question Taala as to the whereabouts of Fiontann, and she had remained rather coy and aloof regarding the matter. Simply stating that he had left on some expedition.

Chaney knew he had travelled with the Company some time ago now. She remembered standing that day outside the Dawnhall, they were saying their farewells to one another. It couldn’t be that he were still away could it? No surely not, here was Taala, her best friend, taking care of her, nursing her back to health, and she had been away on the same adventure.

It would be one fine sunny morning, when Taala would bring to her a letter signed by Fiontann. It was asking for a meeting, and it was to be at the Dawnhall. Chaney of course was in no condition to be venturing out far, and the Dawnhall was quite some distance from Taala’s house. No this meeting would have to take place here in her friend’s house.

Chaney, at last, had some reason to smile, although this was painful to say the least. But still news from Fiontann, her love was finally coming to see her. He must have been on some mission, or errand, something of great importance which would have kept him from her surely?

Chaney and Taala agreed that Fiontann would visit tomorrow evening as Chaney was not feeling well at all this day. Her right side was still throbbing from the pain, more so than the rest of her body. But she now had something very much to look forward to. Her man, her love, was finally coming home to her.

That evening Chaney was in a doze, she had been restful most the day, due no doubt to her constant thinking of Fiontann. Taala would come home from whatever it was she had been doing, and started her daily fuss of looking after her friend. She had brought Eroforth home with her, the man whom had led The Bloody Dawn on the evening of Chaney’s rescue.

Chaney, whom was lightly dozing and could hear voices, stirred somewhat from her sleep. She could make out Taala and Eroforth. Then there was a knock at the door. Chaney would almost look to see if her friend would go answer, and in turn she duly did. She would hear a voice she had not heard in a very long time………………

It was the voice of Fiontann Berengar, the man whom she loved….

Chaney stirred from her sleep, fidgeted, and rolled over in bed so as she could catch a glimpse of him. The pain wracked her body as she did this. As soon as she had turned over, exposing the extent of her injuries, Fiontann could now truly see the awful mess Chaney was in.

Her face bruised, eyes were black and blue, swollen shut. He arms, and what part of her torso could be seen were, lacerated with quite some deep cuts, bruises from the constant beatings were peppered all over. The only saving grace was that her wounds had been cleaned and dressed.

However, the bruises, the injuries, the physical and mental fatigue that she were feeling were nothing compared to what she was about to experience. She was now going to truly feel what it was like to suffer anger, humiliation, and a burning desire for………………………….

…………..Revenge……
