"Of the High Arts' Theory" - Letter to Cirionar

Dear Indur Cirionar-en Calarind,

As I promised the passing day, I will have my thoughts of the experiment you observed written here and brought to you by my niece Gwathiell. I hope she brought the document in a well state!
However, to the theory I have: As I have told you, I believe the High Arts to be much more than we thought before. Sadly, the more I learn and think to come closer to the solution, the more material and new, before unseen unfolds, so that all Ages that had been would not be enough to study it all.
I bid you, Indur Cirionar, laugh not, for I mean to speak serious:
I believe the High Arts to have a conscious, like an entity of its own. Each being seems to have a unique connection to this entity, similar to a soul-mate maybe, I can only guess so far.
Except for the High Race of the Ainur, we, the Quendi seem to be the most intertwined with these forces, while I found no evidence of it at all among the Halflings of the Shire. Dwarves have a connection, a greater even than the race of Man, which leads me to the thought: The older the race, the more potent the bond?
Excuse me prettling on and not coming to a point, I seem to have become lost in my thoughts...

The High Arts as entity with a conscious - Those who studied it, know it is there and know about the bond that enables us to make use of the powers, that we often find to be a given.
In the years I have meditated now, I received dreams of a soft voice trying to communicate with me, which led me to the assumption that the natural power was greeting me with a gentle mental handshake. The High Arts, the natural powers, (I might have to find a name for what I am talking about), is shy like a young deer and requires apparently a lot of time to become acquainted with its physical partner.
Furthermore did I find that with regarding the High Arts not as a given, but more a friend that I speak friendly to, some things have gone lighter through my days. I tread through the forests easier and on saver paths, the surroundings appear clearer and lighter, yes, I even managed to sing a rose to blossom without earth and water!

This leads me to my counter-part: What happens if one disregards this power and forces it to bend to one's will, such as evil-doers do? Especially among the Race of Man it is seen, that they lack the control of their abilities, if they have learned such and that their lives are shortened through the false usage!
The power drains them in their very inner and lets their bodies age, for their eye not perceivable. And often is their power very angered and disturbed, not in equilibrium with the gifts of Yavanna or Ulmo or Manwë.

Whether we, the Quendi, suffer under such effects from false usage of the High Arts as well, is not yet clear to me. I think that our spirits and these powers draw power from each others, which produces a co-existance and hence permit us to live eternally.

I would love to explain more to you about my many theories!
It would be wonderful if you could visit us in the next days in our home in Duillond.

Regardful,
Lhûthindë Laurenar
