I shall be setting out from the Vale in a few days time. This note will hopefully find you before my arrival which I expect to be before the closing of the season, depending on the pace and any unforeseen circumstances.

My dear brother,

Thank you for your letter, I was happy to hear from you; and I am delighted to hear about your work, in which I would gladly assist any way I can.

I am loath to leave the Vale in this fair spring, yet I long to see again the fair land of Lindon and to look once more upon the Western Sea.

I cannot promise you that I will depart soon, though it may chance that I arrive come summer.

I will let you know.

I need not tell you just how many fools exist in the world. They are numerous. Everywhere I look I see another fool. Take my little pet Tygus for example. He was foolish enough to think he could take Redain on his own. Little Caspier Redain who caused me so much trouble. "The best slaver" as they used to call her. They were right. She was good. Was being the operative word. Still, she is not good now. Crazy foolish wench that she is. Tygus took her and lost her and got himself mutilated by that Favarth fool in the process.
