The road to East, part II: Storm in Enedwaith

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

Angelnarth wiped the black colored blood off one of his swords. He looked up to the sky. It was dark, barely around noon, but still, dark. A storm was coming.

He spasmodically turned to his left. He heard something. More of them were on his tracks. He dropped the blood stained cloth on the ground, and picked up his swords once again. He waited...he could not see them with his damaged eyesight, but he could hear them. Marching and yelling and clanking their weapons like the orcs do before they attack.

The sun was already up when we were packing our belongings, to venture further south. This day we walked such a long way, I still can not believe it. Yet it was not an easy path. These unknown lands hold many dangers, I believe we will not find any friendly face this far south. The constant threat of danger is making me paranoid, every man or creature we meet I deem as a foe unless he proves otherwise.

~~I am not sure how, but we made it out of there, after a night long walking. We walked for about 20 hours by now. Like walking over a bed of nails. Yet Wulfreda proved to be a useful guide, without her I would have been consumed by that strange place. After the forest it started to rain so hard, we were all soaked in minutes.

~~As we ventured forth we encountered a dark forest. The air was thick and there was no sound at all, no bird, no wind, only the footsteps of our company. I saw my brother having the same thoughts, we should not enter this dark place. Yet it was Wulfreda that looked confident to throw herself into the forest, so we followed her. None dared to disturb the silence that ruled the forest. There were lights flowing in random directions as we walked deeper into the forest. I am sure elves should be near, always when unnatural things happen, elves have something to do with it.

~~As we walked south a strong wind was blowing in our direction. I could only hear the wind blowing hard in my ears, unable to hear the company nor sounds in the surroundings. We moved from rock to tree constantly looking around us. The landscape consisted of small hills with scattered rocks and trees. On the horizon we could see a village of huts and tents, is this the first Dunlendings we encounter? It is a sign we are on the right track, and more secrecy required from us. We traveled around the camp under cover of trees.

Journal #15 - Delays and Detours

The way south is troublesome. The road we have been roughly following (even if we cannot walk it, it served as a guide to us while we rode hidden) lead into a pass through a rocky vale. We have no choice but to either brave the road or find a way around the range. It seems to be sprouting out westwards from the mountains, but if the map is to be trusted, it should not be too wide. I do not wish to risk the road. It is most certainly watched, and a good place for an ambush, too.
But it means a detour, and we are already delayed.

After Andswaru have given to Vaarion what he made for her at Rivendel he laid back a bit. His hand rubs over his leg. While Vaarion was collecting more firewood he tended the combat wound.

“You really hinder me in my journey stupid leg, you will delay everything” Andswaru sighted while looking at his leg.

On that moment he heard a crack and Andswaru looked around.

Speaking with a loud voice he said: “Who go’s ! Who dares to set foot on this hill!”

Journal #14 - Enedwaith

The land south of the river is not called Eregion any more, but Enedwaith. So far there has been little difference in the looks of the place, though. We keep to the wilderness, avoiding camps and settlements. Though the wilderling people who live here are not likely to have the same grudge with us as the people further south in Dunland have, it pays to be cautious.
So there is not much to tell. I still train the sword, mornings and evenings if I am not too tired. It took a few days for us to recover from the strains of the hunt, and our wounds old and new, so we travel slowly.
