Upon the pages of a notebook, the following is written in charcoal.

Page one: An entire page of the capital letter A, in varying sizes, pressures and accuracy.

Page two: An entire page of the capital letter B, in varying sizes, pressures and accuracy.

(So on, up to the letter F)

After the letter F, a list of attempted words is written, Ryheric having gotten ambitious in his learning despite his six letter limitation. The words are as follows:

FA (far)
FAD (fade)
FAC (fake)
DAC (dark)
CA (care)

Difficult and easy changes had come his way. Some opportunities were missed and others taken. A few people and events had sunk in fangs venom-filled, or sweet and sad as a last breath. Everything mattered right now, even the small things most took for granted. Mattering didn't mean they needed to be complicated.

First impressions had a power to them. The smallest of moments could provoke a myriad of thoughts. Ryheric sought the challenge of being able to capture these moods in the music he made. Though he knew he was not a real musician, and that the improvised nature of his work meant no piece would ever be polished or perfect, often not even tidy, he used his lute as an outlet.

Entry the second.

Before aught else I must apologize for my shameful display. I did not expect my emotions to get so far out of hand, and I am vastly embarrassed. It must have been a mortification for you to watch as well, and I am very sorry. I felt your patience and compassion and am truly appreciative. May you not have to offer them again!
