Starmere lake to Emmawynn symbolized a new beginning.  She had once emerged from the little cave there tentatively ready to start fresh, a broken girl in a strange land. She had so much hope, so many expectations.  She was free and while still broken she was excited about all of the possibilities.

A meeting, a declaration that they were a clan, information about Salin, information about the enemy they face.  The dynamics were changing in a good way, but sometimes Emma wondered at what cost.  There wasn’t time to dwell on it, the first group started out immediately to search for the child.

Over the next few weeks, the memories of her grandmother continued to flow back.  They gave Emma some life and some strength, and then the incident at the Barrow Downs where she ended up with broken ribs. Emma had been tapped out before the incident. The social circle had grown and was larger than she knew how to handle.  Many came to her with concerns, requests for advice, and requests for help. She cared about each of them, and she was happy to feel like she could help.

Life was all the same. Esma had thrived on the thrill of defeating enemies. Orcs, Wargs...yes, they needed to die.
Yet she was tired. So tired.
It was all the same. Was there meaning to it? The more she defeated, the more came later.

Mead was still her best friend, and would continue to be so. But did she have any other friends? Not really. She was alone.

Nelnardis tried not to look at the two boys rattling the door of her cell. They kept speaking in Rohirric, seemingly trying to get her attention.

“Maybe she only understands Westron,” one finally said in the common tongue.
