Outward Appearance

Arindiis’ face is rather characteristic. Some might describe her as gaunt, what with high cheekbones, an angular jaw, and a rather long nose with a prominent bump down its bridge. Nevertheless, her visage is not a result of current malnourishment or poor health. Her flesh is nourished and plump. Her eyes are pale blue, contrasting the thick, dark lashes which frame them. She seems aware of the haunting effect her features can have, which is possibly why she often shies away from eye contact.

Her ashen brown hair is kept long, and often left loose down her back or across her shoulders. It doesn’t appear to bother her. Only during serious combat, will she prepare by braiding and pinning her hair down.

Arindiis stands at an above-average height compared to a Breeish woman, but is as short as a Beorning skinchanger can be at this time. Her build is athletic in a stocky way. She carries herself in a manner to make herself smaller and less noticeable, slouching over and taking long, calculated steps.

She fancies sturdy clothing of beorning-make with wool in natural hues, accented with a few strikingly dyed textiles. She seems to have a definite eye for aesthetics, decorating herself with crudely beautiful rings, necklaces and embossment.

Arindiis is a skinchanging beorning. One who is familiar with her person, should be able to likewise recognise her in bear form, where all of her characteristics endure.

Background

Arindiis was born with her twin brother Andri a mid-winter morning, in the upper vales of Anduin  Their already winter-weakened mother, Njóla, passed on weeks after, leaving the remaining family in mourning even after many years.

Father Jurek seldom expressed his love for his children, being deeply struck with grief and would neglect Arindiis in particular. For years to come, the girl wondered as to why her existence seemed so unsubstantial to her father. Was it her status as his only daughter, her being nursed by other families in her first years, or her queer and unresponsive ways?

Very early in her life, Arindiis took up apprenticeship as a garment maker. Despite her excellent skill, Arindiis lacked a love for her work and so her seeming talent was cast aside in favour of exploration. Her childhood was spent leaving the lodges and her duties to go explore the vast woods, often accompanied by Andri, with whom she was inseparable.  For a time, she was moved into the apprenticeship of her aunt and local healer, Yrsa. Only after multiple incidents of close calls beyond the safety of the tall hedges of the lodges, Jurek decided to have Arindiis practice as a warrior. It was soon discovered she had an extraordinary mastery of her bear form.

Despite this, she was still considered immature and unusually unresponsive entering young adulthood, this to the dismay of Jurek and her oldest brother Ilías. An opportunity arose, as peculiar travelers passed through and offered to take Arindiis along with them to induce a coming-of-age journey. An idea Jurek among other elders had contemplated.

Willingly, though against the wishes of her twin brother, Arindiis joined the company traveling South. With them, she was consoled and learned much of life in the wilderness. Finally, she parted from the company in Bree-town, intending to be back on the road after working for some coin.

Her journey took her through lands of the west and north-west, before she happened to circle back Bree-land once more. Arindiis returned to the forest of Far Chetwood, where she assumed residence by a minor lake.

Why she remained there, she didn't understand at the time. A strange feeling of belonging and purpose kept her from continuing on a path south-east. She made friends with locals, and found occasional work where she could. Her name reached the Bloody Dawn, and she began to unofficially work with the mercenaries, until eventually being granted a sigil. One who had aided her with claiming work and taught her well how to handle herself was the Bree-Lander Askelin. To him, she was wholly and fiercely devoted, and their working alongside each other strengthened their blond. "Hand in hand, back to back, you and I against all else." The two were married in Bree and parted ways with the Bloody Dawn to work independently. And with that, we reach the unwritten present and future.
