Ithilwien lived almost all her life in Rivendell, at first with her mother Ashleth and stepfather Nostarion and later on younger sister and brother Mabeth and Albillion. Her father died soon after Albillion was born and around the same time Mabeth and Ashleth left Rivendell and settled in Bree. A few years later so did Albillion, finding that they had both died. Ithilwien had always been very protective of her family, especually her baby brother, and regretted not coming with him to Bree. Due to this she recently left her safe life in Rivendell and migrated to Bree and its sorroundings in order to stay close to her brother to protect him.
