1 Trading horses

She was born in Rohan, daughter of Éowerd and Ceowyn. Her father lived a life as a horse trader, hunting wild horses on the east-plains and selling them to anyone who wanted to buy them. Life and trading became harder over the years and her parents decided to change their lives, travelling to distant lands to try their luck. A crude wagon was built and they rode out. From that time onwards their life would be that of travelling horsetraders, again hunting for wild horses and selling them in the next settlement they would call upon but now their wagon had become their home.

Lustwyn grew into a proud, tall beautiful girl, tough when needed, gentle and caring when the situation called for it. She became a skilled hunter and a brave fighter, using her abilities to capture the most difficult to catch horses and defending her family and their property when necessary.

Years passed and her parents became too old for this work, they decided to undertake the voyage back to their homeland and retire. But they never reached it anymore.....

The night was pitch black and they were tired, having captured three wild steeds, now tied to the back of their wagon. Lustwyn was sleeping inside the wagon, her parents were leading the two oxes pulling the wagon to a place called Ost-Guruth where they would rest and try to trade the horses for coin and food.

The wagon came to an abrupt halt as one of the wooden wheels broke from the axle, the wagon canted and Lustwyn fell out of her makeshift bunk. Shouts and screams sounded through the night, horses neighed, oxes bellowed. Lustwyn, still clad in her self-made leather armour, reached for her sword and jumped out the back of the wagon. Men carrying torches and clubs ran around the wagon, shouting, yelling.

"Mother!! Fa...."  An arrow pierced her upper right arm and a crude spear entered her waist. The pain was too much for her...

The stars were bright for a split second, shining upon her when she sank through her knees and slipped into darkness.
