Firnstayn's Songs: Hero & Warrior

This is the song of Olavr Mandredson's death by the hands of his own son Heðinn. The young warrior stole Mandred's fabled axe to bereave his father of the reign over Firnstayn. Many years of terror would follow, yet the people believe Olavr to remain undying in the halls of Eru.

Wounded pride, the scheming game
Nigh 's the warrior to his claim
To end the hero's days,
was conceived in craze!

But hinders invulnerability
And only by guile and debility
He came to know the way
Fabled axe for his betrayal!

The warrior's brunt
The hero's demise
Mandred's son dies in vain
The warrior's crime the hero's pain
Yet deathless he will remain

A bidding did the warrior feign
To a hunt in forests as twain
Away from any who would know
Stolen axe has marked the woe

Upon the spring's radiant teal
Brought thirst the hero down to kneel
As then the warrior began his rave
There would be none to save

The warrior's brunt
The hero's demise
Mandred's son dies in vain
The warrior's crime the hero's pain
Yet deathless he will remain

The hero's laid out upon his court
They give him his escort
The warrior draws near, known is the crime
Yet judge becomes the time

The warrior's brunt
The hero's demise
Mandred's son dies in vain
The warrior's crime the hero's pain
Yet deathless he will remain
