A girl who appears older than she actually is and who may stand out among other folk, for she is tall for her age, lanky and thin.
Her hair is white-golden, almost silver and is woven into many long braids, fashioned after the manner of the Men of the North. Her eyes are two shining sapphires, imbued with the very essence of winter and blessed with the Drake in the Eye, a sight so very penetrating that it is alike to a drake's, sublime and of keen coldness.
The girl called Frøydis garbs herself in blue and white fabric and a cloak of confidence, walking with wide strides.
She carries the sword Nothung, the fabled weapon of her mother Skjalddis, the Fire-Drake. The weapon's blade is entirely made of black steel, its hilt is adorned with dalish knot-work and dwarvish ornamentations.

Two companions that are almost always at her side are her horse Rennar, a black and tall steed of the Firnstayner breed and the mischief-seeking weasel called Unvesn.

Frøydis' History

Her early Life

The girl was born in Firnstayn, a village that lies north of the Erebor, nigh the border to the Withered Heath, where they say, do the last of dragon-kind live.
For a people that came from the Northmen, they had a good life. Firnstayn lay at a river that came flowing down from the north, which its folk called Fjórd. Hence they named the surrounding lands Fjórdlanden. Frøydis grew up among her people in this village that retained its independence from the Kingdom of Dale and was ruled by a Jarl. Her very ancestor, Mandred Torkíldson was said to have founded the small town.
Her mother, Skjalddís, as well as her grandparents Gjáflaug and Torgrid Jøtunvinur taught the girl the ways of life and already in her young years, Frøydis was able to apprehend more than the average girl. She learned the hunt and how to defend herself with the blade, but of all, Frøydis loved the rare books and the tales of heroes of yore.

Times changed however. Easterlings dared more often to attack the lands, so that Skjalddís decided to leave her home until the war was over. She did not wish for Frøydis to suffer under the consequences of war. At that time, Frøydis was ten winters old.
Mother and daughter took the northern passage along the mountains and Mirkwood, until they came eventually upon the Misty Mountains. With the aid of the Beornings, who were friendly to their folk, they passed safely into Eriador and continued until they reached the town of Bree. When they arrived, a year had passed since they had left Firnstayn.

There it was, that she met the man called Alfknutr who would come to be the most beloved man in Frøydis' life, for the story-teller befriended her mother and began to care for the girl, until he named her daughter and Frøydis took up the name Alfknútsdottír.

Drake in the Eye

There was a legend in Firnstayn that surrounded the descendants of Mandred Torkildson. For it was said that he had not only spawned a daughter with a giantess, but that his own son had mingled with dragons and that the blood of these creatures had come into the line of all children that came after. Whether this tale is true remains debatable and no one could yet find proof that it was either true nor false and so it is just that; A legend.
However, the people of Firnstayn believed in such stories and said that Frøydis would have been born with the Drake in the Eye. Already in her youngest years, her gaze could be so piercing that horses and other animals would shy from her and when she grew up, hearty and grown men could not withstand her sight. And often it was rumored that the girl could see more than what lay before her.

Back to Firnstayn

After many adventures in Bree-land and the passing of years, a man called Whunjo and his brother Uhruz appeared at the hall in which Frøydis and her parents lived. These were distant kinsmen for Whunjo and Uhruz were the sons of Tunaraz, a great warrior from the forest of Mirkwood. They spoke of great hosts preparing and their homelands endangered so that Alfknutr, Skjalddís and Frøydis followed them back into the north. Their way was perilous and beset by many dangers, but eventually Skjalddís and Frøydis arrived back in Firnstayn.
Skjalddís was asked to become the Jarl and she accepted. Not a moment too soon, as the town was besieged by raiders from the East. With a cunning trick and a great portion of luck, the invaders could be warded off, so that peace was secured under Skjalddís' rule. Frøydis met many of her childhood friends again, such as Eirbrandt and Tjalfi, who at first could not believe that it was her, for the girl had grown into a young woman and appeared more alike to her mother than before, still bearing the Drake in the Eye
In Firnstayn she dwells now and learns what she can. Often would she go to the seer and ask what fate may yet have in store for her ...

Concerning Unvesn

Unvesn, (which means 'mischief' in the tongue of the Northmen) was the companion of Frøydis and most likely her closest friend. Albeit just a weasel, Unvesn proved great loyalty and love to the girl, willing to give his own life to protect her if he had to, and on many occasions he showed that there was truth to the gleam of hinting intelligence in his black, button-like eyes.
When Unvesn was not currently sleeping, looking for food or following Frøydis around, he would effectively seek for mischief and always find it or cause it himself.
