An old song depicting a legend of Firnstayn. It is written in the tongue of the Northmen, in the dialect of the people of Firnstayn themselves.
The song was first recorded in the year 2955 of the Third Age by a dwarven minstrel from the Kingdom of Erebor who gifted thereupon the parchment to the Northmen.
Kom nordmenn
Kom krøniker og ord
Kom fedre og mødre av
Høgtimbra ætter
Frå storslåtte Firnstayn
Kom allfader Ensom
Kom moder Baraða
Kom alle dere vise Vakre
Kom urgamle makt
Når frøa er bær
Syng den song
Som i fordums liv avla
Ask standande
Heitir Guðþorn
Tronar eviggrøn
Yvir Fjórdlandsbrønn
Høyr meg alle
Søner og døtrer åt Mandred
Stå opp frå døsen
Gjef kraft til legende
Syng den song
Av ormar som
Er i ditt blod
Ensom, Guder
Alle dere vise Vakre,
Sterk Ormøyir,
Håpefulle søner,
Alvar, Dvergar,
Disir, Vølvur
Vorder verger
Av evig storslåtte Firnstayn

A rough translation into Westron
Come northmen
Come tales and word
Come fathers and mothers of
Sublime ancestry
Of powerful Firnstayn
Come allfather Eru
Come mother Elbereth
Come all thee wise Maiar
Come ancient power
When seeds are fruits
Sing the song
That created this life
The standing ash
is called Guðþorn
who stands ever-green
over the wells of the Fjórdland
Hear me all
Sons and daughters of Mandred
Stand up from your slumber
Give power to the legend
Sing the song
Of the serpents
In your blood
Eru, Valar,
All thee wise Maiar,
Strong dragon-maidens,
Yearning sons,
Elves, Dwarves,
Godesses, seeresses
The high wardens
Of eternal mighty Firnstayn
