Dear Diary,
It was Dragon night again, such a joy to see familiar faces and have a break from the farm
. I love the farm, but my feet are itching for new places.
There was a Dwarf at the Inn tonight, he told us about his journey. He was travelling to Bree from his home in the North, I think he said Thorin-Salls. It sounds very exciting.
Apparently they live in a mine, which is like a Hobbit Burrow but much bigger from what I can understand. He spoke in a strange way, not unpleasant, but different.
He said there are Dwarfs in Needlehole who buy produce for Thorin-Salls. The land around there is poor farmland and the cold weather makes the crops fail regularly.
I think I might go to Needlehole tomorrow and talk to the Dwarfs. This years tater crop looks like it could be a good one.
Dad has gone again, I've not seen him for three days now. I'm getting worried, I asked Bounder Hayward to keep an eye open for him. He said he'd pass a message to the Bounders in Stock to kick him out of the Golden Perch and send him home.
He's getting a bad reputation and I don't know what I can do to help him.
At least I've managed to hide the money from him this time, so he can't spend the farm wages again.
If it wasn't for the kind Lankyshanks Blacksmith that gave Throngol an advance on his wages I would still be trying to find last month's pay for the farm lads. Of course Throngol has said he has to work twice as hard as ever to pay it back. I think he's just using it as an excuse not to write home.
I have made Trumble the farm manager, he says it doesn't make a difference he still does the job he loves. He even said he'd do it for free.
I think his wife likes the extra silver coin a month though, she has bought herself a new hat to celebrate. Its the most hideous thing I've ever seen! Silk flowers are pretty, but when they cover the entire hat!
Today is a busy day
