Born in the year 720 of the Second Age in a small settlement of her people near the western shores of Lake Nenuial. She is eldest of four children; having two sisters and her brother, the youngest. Their father is Curwe Limbetanwë ((S: Lintanor)) of the Noldor; a skilled craftsman of Nargothrond and Aerynbess Celebfindriel, a Telerin elleth of the elves of Doriath and Eglarest is their mother.

Asmalinde sat in a chair in front of the great fireplace in the Hall of Fire in Imladris. She slouched backwards, legs stretched out as she enjoyed the warmth of the fire and the ethereal, timeless joy of the hall. Her journey from Mithlond had been swift. She had parted from the southern bank of the Gulf of Lhun twenty days before. Asmalinde journeyed through the wilderness. Tall trees and hilly crags blocked the old path travelers had abandoned.

Eduwiges of Faldham hurried through the glistening courtyards up on the Sages Tier of Minas Tirith. Intent on her mission, the beauty of the fountains and courtyards passed her by as she approached the steps to the Houses of Lore. Eduwiges smelled of sweat and horses. Oenone had not let her down. The horse of the Riddermark lived up to her breeding and the travel time to the city was short.
