Outward Appearance

An ageing Dwarf, Dulmi shows the wears of a lifetime of labour in the deep mines. Dark is his thick long hair with flickers of grey upon it, along with a great long beard which is tucked within his belt. His face is wrinkled and scarred, it hosts his old pale green eyes which do not see well in the light. Perhaps the most noticeable feature of this Dwarf can be seen when he removes his thick gloves: His right hand is severely burnt due to a smelting accident, it is now dry and grey, almost blackened.

As for clothing, the Dwarf wears a variety of attire depending on the time or task at hand. Well worn robes and tunics that host many holes and patches are worn in the day whilst long robes are used in the evening. Only Dwarf-make does he wear, for his pride will accept only that.

Background

Dulmi son of Galmi

Born in the Blue Mountains among the refuges of Erebor, Dulmi was the son of a prosperous miner and was thus given a fair upbringing. From a very young age, he was apprenticed by his father and here he learnt all he knows about metals and their properties. For months on end he would delve into the mines of copper and iron, with naught but song and his kinsman for company. Forever competitive with his brothers and seeking the esteem of his elders, he would always make sure he had the greatest output.

Despite not being born there, Dulmi was always drawn to the Lonely Mountain. A place he considered to be his home and heritage, the thought of returning there drove him on through the dark of the mines. A wife he made in the halls, one of great beauty and a respected family. By chance he was in the Iron Hills on a prospecting trip when Thorin and Company reclaimed Erebor. He volunteered to participate in the The Battle of Five Armies, where he saw much death of his enemies and his kin alike, something that would stay with him for the remainder of his days. He took to the mountain and with the other Dwarves, he aided the repair of the lost kingdom. His wife rode forth upon the word of victory, she was pregnant. A son she bore him, Karfig was his name, forever in his father's esteem. A second soon followed, Iarfig, who Dulmi always thought of him as lesser compared to his brother. To the mines, he sent his youngest whilst he encouraged his older son into the King's Guard.

Scandal and betrayal followed. The son of Dulmi's brother who dwelt in the Iron Hills engulfed his family in accusations and lies. He had stolen great treasures from the halls of a lord there, and all the family was blamed for this. Under the cover of night, Dulmi fled with his family down the mountain, where he witnessed the death of Karfig and then losing Iarfig in the blizzards of Erebor. To the Halls of Thorin he and his wife  went, for the Lord Dwalin was reasonable and accepted their refuge. He keeps within the mountains, re-establishing his mine there.
