Jaonath
Jaonath
| Name | Jaonath |
|---|---|
| Occupation | Unwilling Bodyguard of Trysse |
| Age | Mid twenties |
| Race | Man |
|---|---|
| Residence | A rented room in the Prancing Pony |
| Kinship | None |
| Outward Appearance | Black, rather untidy hair falls around Jaonath's relatively fair looking face. His warm brown eyes seem friendly, but often tired, or annoyed. The man wears often green, and dislikes wearing any other 'stupid' colours. He carries a finely made sword, one that was once fancy and gleaming, but is now a litte worn from years of use. The greatsword is, however, still frighteningly sharp, and anyone looking for a fight had better be aware that it could sever their head. The man normally wears his armour, as he is normally guarding Trysse, who insists he wears it. The armour is finely crafted, and almost certanly not Jaonath's, it looks too official. However, he has tried to mask this unwanted look in many ways, firstly in wearing a long, green dyed boar hide cloak, and secondly in wearing his own leaf coloured clothes. He seems to have gotten his way with the armour itself, the very steel having a green tint. He seems to have paid little care to repairing the armour, as it is adorned with many scratches, and could use a polish. Prehaps this is another attempt to rebel against the officiality of the armour. When not wearing this, Jaonath can normally be seen in a long leather overcoat, but that would be a very rare sight. |

Background
Not much is known to those who don't ask, as Jaonath rarely gives out his past. However, Trysse will gladly tell you a twisted tale of the man's background. Those looking for the truth will probably have to befrend Jaonath, and then get him drunk.
Jaonath wasn't an orphan of a brave knight, he wasn't raised from birth as the chosen knight of the realm. He was raised, really, by being bullied by others wile helping his older brother work on the farm. Jaonath grew up under the shadow of a noble family of Dale, hearing many tales of Bard the Bowman, and wishing he could acheive such a feat. However, no life changing event occured to give this dream a reality, so Jaonath continued helping around the farm. From time to time, he would help sell produce at the market, or venture to the manor house to give the nobles the money his family owed.
The only skill in combat Jaonath learned from an early age was how to fight with sticks. Staring at age eight, he enjoyed pretending his clubs were great swords, and having duels with his brother in their spare time. His skill earned him quite some respect from the other children, for those who were bullying him normally ended up running away after being struck with a large club. For seven years, Jaonath continued growing up. Farming, play fighting, and thinking about what he was going to do when he was older. At the age of fifteen, Jaonath came home to find his first greatsword waiting. His older brother had joined the guard, and 'found' him a 'spare' sword. Jaonath was thrilled, and began to practice with this weapon. He found his skill quite transferable, and was soon pulling off some quite fancy moves with the weapon. At eighteen, he began to concider looking for work in the guard. Being turned down, he became a part-time sellsword. For a few years he made a living like this. He did not kill many people, but became a notable figure around town. Many people turned to him with problems, be it a matter of warding off theives or finding a lost dog.
At aged twenty two, Jaonath's farm failed. He hadn't paid enough attention to the crops, and with the harsh weather, they had died. Jaonath didn't have enough money to pay off his debt to the nobles, and so was 'recruited' into their ranks to pay off his debt. He was trained up, shoved into armour, given a shiny new greatsword and went to work protecting the nobles. Jaonath had mixed feelings about this, for he disliked the nobles, and a lot of the time found himself feeling guilty, such as claiming the tax from a poor family he knew.
He was reassigned to guarding Trysse, a bratty noble girl recently. She demanded they journey to Bree, for a reason Jaonath is yet to discover. Jaonath has not liked his new position one bit, but knows his hands are tied. It would be a long story indeed if every moment of Jaonath's recent life was included, but he will tell you many tales of it.
