Mithaglir the Sullen

Epessë/Eneth: Eglathrîn (D.Sindarin, 'Eglath-rememberance'. Pro. Eglath-reen.) 

  Born as one of twin boys early in the First Age, before the building of Menegroth - the city of 'Thousand Caves' - and before Elu Thingol and his Maia bride Melain returned from their enchanment and the finding of the Sinda realm of Doraith. Mithaglir is a Doriathrim Sinda one of the "Eglath" who wished to not further their Great Jounrey for they were without their ambassador to the Valar, Elwé Singollo. 

  After the founding of Doraith and it's many Forests and the building of Menegroth by the Dwarves of Belegost, Mithaeglir and his brother Mithgalad become one of the March-wards of Beleg and Mablung. In YOTT 1497, the twins followed their King to the First Battle of Beleraind against Morgoth and his Orcs, along side the Laiquendi, Green Elves. After this the twins continued to watch Eglador's borders. After this Elu Thingol's realm is now named Doraith and Mithaeglir, like nearly all Sinda of this Kingdom do not take part in the Wars of Beleraind. During this time the pair's dislike for the Sons of Feanor and the Noldor grows as they choose not to heed the comands of Elu Thingol - High King of Beleraind. The Years following and during the Quest of the Simlarilli, the brothers continue to Watch the Borders and Eaves of Doraith and it's other Forests.

  During these years the great adventures and tales of these ancient days partake and Mithaglir watches and meets many of Beleriand's heroes who visit Menegroth - weather for good or for ill. F.A. 472 the twin takes part in the Nírnaeth Arnoediad, where they fight under the banner of Fingon in the Western Army. After this distrous Battle, they return to Menegroth, where only to find themselves later to be defending the King's Halls against the Dwarves during the affair of the Nauglamír and it's Silmaril. Mithaeglir fled to Ossiriand after the slaughtering of his people and his beloved King till the coming of Beren and Lúthien's son Dior, Elu's Heir, whom refounded the Kingdom of Doraith for but a time Mithaeglir and Mithgalad return.

  Mithaeglir's heart grew less weary and he was happy once more when Doarith was once more a Kingdom and the Necklace of the Dwarves returned to Menegroth. But alas, that winter was a foul one. For the Sons of Feanor and the Noldo assailed Thingol's son and his realm. There, Dior Eluchil, his wife Nimloth and their sons - Eluréd and Elurín - were slain along with most of the last Elves of the Fenced Land. There Mithaeglir and his brother fought the now hated Noldor, were he saw the slaying of Celegorm, Caranthir and Curufin.

  The brothers, now wrought with greif, feld with Oropher Eastward far to the realms of the Silvan and Nandorin Elves lived. After the founding of the Kingdom of Greenwood, Mithaeglir's heart and mind began to heal after finding his love for the naivety and joyfulness of the Silvan Elves. After the Battle of the Last Allaince and the death of Oropher, Mithaeglir returned to be a Emerald Guard or March-warden of Emyn-nu-Fuin and Mirkwood. At some point during the early Third Age Mithgalad left for the Grey Heavens along with his wife, where in Lindon, their son was born.
