Outward Appearance

Arvaldon is the epitome of a Gondorian man, standing tall, broad and proud above most within the region of Eriador. It would be fair to describe him as stern character, especially as displayed through his features, for he often appears in deep contemplation as if fixated upon something unknown to all but he. His shoulder length hair is a light ashen brown in colour with mild tints of grey about his temples. This could very well be said about his beard also, which is neatly groomed and shaped to adorn his presentable visage. His eyes are a deep shade of blue, with slight signs of age in the form of crow’s feet at their corners.

He is still quite an attractive man, distinguished even in his demeanour. This is made all the more prominent by his dress, of which he is usually seen wearing a black Gondorian surcoat, decorated with silver patterning resembling that of the White Tree of his heritage. Let not this finery fool you however, for beneath he usually wears a set of light chainmail, an occupational hazard for he is ever cautious even when in relatively safe surroundings.

When travelling upon the road, he usually fashions a waxed great cloak and dresses for the occasion with leather garments and mud-spattered walking boots. You would be hard pressed to recognise him in the wild, for when travelling he tries to move as covertly as possible.

In terms of his weaponry, Arvaldon is a master of the sword and shield. As such, he wields a hand-and-a-half sized sword of Gondorian make, matched with a circular shield. Neither of these weapons seem remarkable but have served him well in his time of need.

Background

Arvaldon of Gondor is a name well-known to the soldiery of Minas Tirith. Over the many years of his service to the Steward, Denethor II, he has proven his valour on many occasions fighting against the armies of Mordor in the Third Age. More recently however, he fought during the siege of Minas Tirith and stood beside the army of the newly crowned King Elessar at the Battle of the Black Gate. However, after decades of bloodshed and hardship, darkness and fatigue has started to take a hold of Arvaldon. He has witnessed much in his time and lost a great deal to boot. It was at this moment, during the dawn of the Fourth Age, that he decided to leave Gondor, if only for a time, to rest, heal and recover his strength.

His journey from Gondor to Eriador proved taxing. He encountered many strange lands with stranger people occupying them. Often, he was forced into conflict, be it marauding orcs, brigands or wild beasts that tried to overpower him. Nevertheless, after what seemed like a lifetime on the road, he reached Bree-land relatively unscathed, seeking refuge within the rustic town of the former Kingdom of Arnor.

At present, Arvaldon is ever seeking a new purpose. He offers help where he can and chooses not to delve too deeply into the affairs of state. To pay his way, he lends his skill to worth causes. Not quite the work of a mercenary, for he chooses his appointments with great care as to not fall in with the wrong sort. He has already begun to make allies in this new land and continues to do so. Ever striving to find a new role for himself in a young Age.
