Gaulind stands at 5'11'' with the sturdy, unyielding stance of a man shaped by hardship. His dark yet greying hair and unkempt beard frame a face etched with quiet determination, his gaze steady and focused, like an arrow drawn but not yet loosed. His green eyes carry the weight of distant grief, softened only by the calm watchfulness of one well-acquainted with the dangers of the wild.
He is clad in rugged, functional armor—a combination of worn leather and chainmail, built for both protection and mobility. The earth-toned layers allow him to blend with his surroundings, while the mail serves as protection for close-quarters combats that may surprise him in his path. A simple quiver rests across his back, a well-used bow slung over his shoulder, both as much a part of him as his own limbs.
Yet, Gaulind exudes a warmth behind all of this ruggedness, an aura that, in his loss, suggests he is a man quick to bond, to laugh, for he is eager to rebuild the ties he so strongly grieves. But, in unwavering purpose, there is still a lingering restlessness about him, as if he is always listening for something unseen, always ready to continue his hunt.

Background
***
Born in the green fields of the Blackroot Vale, Gaulind was raised in a family steeped in the traditions of the hunt. His family owned a hunting lodge, where, from a young age, Gaulind learned the art of archery, tracking, and survival in the wilds. He spent his days hunting game and selling pelts and meat alongside his kin, living a life of quiet purpose among the resilient folk of the Vale.
But as the shadows lengthened across Middle-earth, danger crept ever closer to his home. Rumors of Corsair raids to the south and Orc incursions from the east reached the Vale, bringing whispers of war to even the most remote corners of Gondor. It was during one such dark night that Gaulind’s life was irrevocably altered. The bells of the nearby village shattered the stillness, calling all able-bodied folk to arms. Orcs had struck, descending from the White Mountains in a wave of fire and violence.
Gaulind fought alongside the village’s warriors, driving back the Orcs with bow and blade. But when the smoke cleared, he returned to find his family’s hunting lodge engulfed in flames, destroyed beyond hope of salvage. His family was gone, and the place he had called home was reduced to ash. Heartbroken yet resolute, he joined with the surviving warriors, vowing to pursue the Orcs that had fled northward into the mountains.
Their journey was grueling and unforgiving. The company of warriors dwindled with each mile, some falling to the Orcs’ ambushes, others turning back. But Gaulind pressed on, carrying the weight of his loss and a fierce determination to avenge his kin. His path led him beyond the mountains, across the fields of Rohan, and ever northward, where he continued the hunt alone, refusing to abandon his quest.
Gaulind’s journey is one of vengeance and endurance, a relentless pursuit that has shaped him into a seasoned hunter, tempered by grief yet driven by an unbreakable will. Though he roams far from his homeland, his heart remains in the Vale, haunted by the memory of what he has lost and bound by a silent oath to see the last of those Orcs fall.
