Outward Appearance

As beheld a tall athletically built elf whose humbleness is not enough to hide his confidence and fierce appearance.

It does not take an elf eye to perceive the ages of wisdom and prestige he carries himself with. Yet even his elven grace cannot hide the scarred Fëa behind his mossy green eyes. His calmness during any incentive big or small, gives away that he has seen much, of many in abundance, within plenty of places.

The way he is dressed reveals that he has an important standing within the elven elite warriors, yet it is not clear if it is Silvan or Sindar. Yet for the keen and scholared eye it can be narrowed down to either modern Taur-nu-Fuin, Laurelindórenan or a mixture of both.

He speaks a dialect of Sindarin, an 'accent' if you will. Next to Sindarin his Westron tongue is profound as well, which can be experienced as rare in combination with his specific Sindarin dialect.

Background

Name   Lathaeron Faelorglas
Race    Moriquendi - Silvan
Age      4138
Born     2.321 SA, Laurelindórenan

As a descendant from the Úmanyar elves, Lathaeron is of the Teleri tree, those not of Aman who never beheld the Light that was before the Sun and Moon. Therefore he is determined to find the light within himself before attempting the great journey along the Straight Road to Valinor, the realm of the Valar.

Lathaeron came to be in Arda shortly before The Ringwraiths first appeared in the Second Age. He became a fierce lieutenant among the Galadhrim, the royal elite warriors from Lothlórien, where he spent most of his early life-time, serving the Sindarin king, Amdír.

The Battle of Dagorlad was the first major downfall for Lathaeron. His spirit broke along with the many Galadhrim warriors who died in the Dead Marshes, which accelerated his life cycle.

Back in Lórien after the costly success of the Last Alliance Lathaeron spent a long time with his parents trying to prevent them from sailing West. This seemed to have worked at the birth of his younger brother Camlardir in 198 TA, but they moved to Valinor a few decades later anyways. Their grief for their kin was still too present. Camlardir, being too young to make such a journey, was left behind with Lathaeron. Preventing the influence of their parents' grief on Camlardir within the Golden Wood, Lathaeron decided to travel to Imladris with his brother, not being an elven adult yet at the time. Here they stayed for longer than a millennium after celebrating the birth of Lord Elrond’s daughter, for this brought the first light upon their Fëa.

Lathaeron has always been bound to Middle-Earth as a protector and guide. He did this alongside his younger brother Camlardir, who joined him in the Battle of Fornost under the lead of Glorfindel as reinforcements from Imladris. Camlardir had become a strong and a capable warrior, yet he was reckless for an elf. He left the ranks of Glorfindel's army to chase down the fragmented remaining forces of Angmar on his own. After some hesitation Lathaeron went after him, but could only find traces of an ambush. Lathaeron hunted down hordes of enemies in the region of the North-Downs for the coming years, followed by a small brigade of elves. After a decade of searching and hunting, his following grew thin and weary. Finally at a battle at Dol Dinen, which was reinforced by large remaining forces from Angmar, Lathaeron's spirit was irrevocably broken as he returned to Lórien.

Shortly after the loss of Camlardir, deep sorrow grew for Lathaeron after the events in Khazad-dûm when the Balrog was freed. During these events many of his kin fled to the haven of Edhellond and sailed over the sea. The immense fading of his kin over the ages caused him to lose the soothness of his Fëa. Lathaeron guided and protected the elven refugees. During their journey south, they rested only once, under the shelter of the trees that make up the border of Fangorn Forest. During the night, Lathaeron is drawn into the trees by a strange feeling, he snaps out of his enchanted state of mind when he is suddenly attacked by a Huorn. Lathaeron manages to survive and escape the encounter by grace of his agility, but loses a piece of jewelry in the process, his family sigil. He returns to camp and joins the other Elves to make their way to Edhellond safely.

Losing Prince Amroth and Nimrodel at the bay of Belafas at this time was a sign for Lathaeron to realize even more that he made the right choice not joining the last ship sailing from Edhellond to Valinor. Something was still keeping him from sailing West.

The fall of Minas Ithil to the Witch King of Angmar was the main reason for Lathaeron to leave the area of Dol Amroth and venture to East Gondor, where he would aid secretly in keeping the peace even after the disappearance of Earnur, the last king of Gondor. When he felt he could do no more, he returned to Lorién.

Again, Lathaeron would not stay for long. In 2070 TA, following strange rumors of a deep evil in the south of Mirkwood, he headed there to seek answers. He did not seem to find any, once again without purpose he wandered the Greenwood for nearly 900 years.

When he finally found spirit in his sorrowed anger and solitude he joined the Malledhrim to fight against the encroaching evils of southern Mirkwood. Hence made him stand out again to the Golden Lady Galadriel.

Just as Sauron is driven out of Mirkwood by the white council, Lathaeron decides to once again return to the golden valley. Here he lives for some 100 years, training young Elves in the art of combat and archery.

His prowess in battle had not been forgotten, and Galadriel sent him to the areas surrounding Isengard with a small group of elves he himself had trained. Here they scouted the area with the assignment to lend whatever aid they could in secret so as to preserve the remaining power the Rohirrim had. Galadriel had foreseen this to be an important strategic position.

Whilst traveling through the region in the year 3017 TA, they came upon wildmen of Dunland who had captured a lone Rohirrim by the name of Ardanmer. Lathaeron saw promise in Ardanmer and arranged him to become part of a group of unlikely allies that would follow Lathaeron’s guidance in learning more about the growing evil in the north.

- At this point Lathaeron hopes, guiding this newly formed fellowship, will be the last task in finding the light within, before joining his brother by letting his Fëa be summoned to the Halls of Mandos in Aman, if that is where his brother is. -

Before this prophecy was set in motion, the small group of Elves, now including the Rohirrim Ardanmer, travelled through the region of Eregion. While travelling they encountered an ancient evil, origin unknown to even the eldest of Arda. This separated the group in a hurry. Ardanmer travelled west by instructions from Lathaeron, to meet his unlikely allies.

Soon after the dreadful encounter, Lathaeron meets an Imladris Sentinel with a message from Elrond who informs Lathaeron a familiar and rugged elf, in possession of his lost family sigil, now resides on the edges of Rivendell that he might like to meet.

The current events happen between 3017-3019 TA.
