Background
It was a rainy autumn evening, fifty years ago from now, when (grand)ma Bolger said to her husband: "There is not enough syrup for the pancakes." What nobody could foresee, this sentence changed their life and life of their children and grandchildren. (Grand)pa Bolger went outside to borrow some syrup from the Haywood neighbors when he heard some noise coming from their shed. He grabbed his pitchfork ready to scare away again those nasty shrews, but what he found was no shrew. A dwarf was lying behind the shed, clothed in a dark hooded cloak, dirty, ragged, and bloody. The heavy breathing and moaning was a sign he was still alive. (Grand)pa Bolger helped him into his house, where (grand)ma spent the next week nursing the poor dwarf back to health. Out of gratitude Gyrgir. that was the dwarf's name, accepted their eldest son Filibert as his apprentice and taught him everything about creating beautiful jewelry. A few decades later the family now wealthy, moved to Oatbarton where they bought a big farm. Only the daughter Peony decided to stay in Overhill and married her beloved Minto.
Peony and Minto Linwood lived a happy life in Overhill, a small village in the woods, with their children Berchard and Yorana until a horrible storm and an accident ended Minto's work as a woodcutter. In the end, they packed all their belongings and moved to Oatbarton as well. Berchard threw himself into farming, planing to become the best farmer in the whole Shire while Yorana showed different skills. The young hobbit lass grew to love all the glittering stones, rings, and bracelets her uncle was creating and began to help him in his workshop. Seeing the joy in her little eyes Filibert could not resist and taught Yorana all that he had learned from Gyrgir. Later he went so far as sending her to Gondamon to his old teacher, where Yorana finally finished her apprenticeship.
