In the year 980 of the Second Age, Farnadan, a forester of Lindon, and his wife, had their first child, a beautiful baby boy. Farnadan gave his son the name Farnion.

From a young age, Farnion was interested in the making of all things. He would accompany his father to the gardens of Lindon, where he colleted twigs, acorns, and chestnuts, to make little toys with, like this woodland hunter:

Farnion had a lively imagination. He would make all kinds of things. And not just of twigs and acorns, he also started woodcarving. At first small carvings out of branches, but as he got more skilled, he would create bigger pieces out of dead trunks and logs. Farnion became so skillful, that he even started to carve with a knife in each of his hands. Because of this, his mother gave him the Amilessë Aduris: the double cutter.

But it wasn't until he tried his hand at metalsmithing that Aduris found his true craft. At first he wanted to learn just enough to be able to craft his own tools for woodcarving, but he soon discovered smithing to be a far more interesting trade than woodcarving could ever be.

As an adult, Aduris became a skilled swordsman under the command of a captain called Elrond. When Elrond was sent to Egerion by the High King Gil-Galad to aid them in the defense against Sauron, Aduris was among the soldiers Elrond took with him. However, they arrived too late. Sauron had advanced too far already and they could not stop him from overtaking Ost-in-Edhel. They were forced along with the refugees from Eregion to retreat back to a valley to the north, which they made into a stronghold. This was the beginning of Rivendell.

After the combined forces of the elves and the Men of Númenor, Sauron was defeated and driven back in SA 1701. From then on, Aduris remained in Rivendell under Elrond's command.
