Hildebald Underbanks was the firstborn to Tibald Underhill and Milty Banks. Soon afterword they bore him a brother, Tolliver. With two children the budding family changed their name to great ceremony as the feast lasted 3 days. From his childhood Hildebald has always been prone to wander, first the green hills of the Shire, than somewhat westward, then somewhat eastward in the lands of Bree. Along the way he attended the requisite feasts and celebrations the Hobbits often have and picked up his affinity for fiddles and lutes, and a love of stories. While deeply in love with the folklore of his people Hildebald knew from the Men of Bree that there were more stories beyond the gentle hills and flowing Brandywine, and thus when he came of age he found a cart in Stock and fell asleep in the back of it. This got him as far as Bree and as been his preferred method of travel ever since. 

However, much of Hildebald's travels have been to the chagrin of his brother, Tolliver, who, at an early age felt the desire to protect his brother from mishap, often by agreeing to come with his older brother while he wandered. In so doing Tolliver found his passion for bounding, and as Hildebald stowed away in carts and caravans, Tolliver took up the Bounder's hat and...set off after his brother. Though as time has gone on the two have learned to live without each other, they are not long without hurrying home to tell the other of their stories.
