After the tragic accident, Reidun and I were sent to live in Lake Town with my aunt and her husband. My aunt Julia is married to a Lake-man named Rognir. With no children of their own, they took us in with open arms. I cannot fault their love for me and Reidun. Aunty Julia tells me so little about my parents. It is from Rognir that I scrape together snippets of my past. I know my father; Jani was a local Wine Lord in Dorwinion and that we were born on a large wine estate on the slopes of the Rhín Hills in Dorwinion. I also know that because of a man named Leigos Malatov we were sent away to Lake Town. We never talk about the accident that killed my parents and destroyed our farm, but I feel this neither the truth nor the whole story.

My aunt ensured that we were schooled properly and could read and write in Westron. During this time, As was the custom of Lake Town all males age fourteen and older would receive training in weaponry and rudimentary military tactics. This was in addition to beginning an apprenticeship in the profession of their choice. During this time, I was also expected to serve in the Standing Town Guard. I became very familiar with the use of a great sword.

At the end of my apprenticeship, I spent a further two years in the town guard, it was during this time I noticed an increase in attacks from the south as well as hearing about strange happenings coming out of Mordor. Soon after my 21st Summer celebration, I told my Aunt I was heading south to see the world. I joined on as a caravan guard with a caravan that was heading to a place called Bree-Town.
