Background
Born to Aethulwulf and Cynswyth 16 winters past, Mereliss grew up in in Scylfig along with her older brother, Leofstan and their friend, Tordag.
The bond between her brother, Tordag and herself was strong. Mereliss would much rather be out playing in the mud and working the farmstead than leaning to sew dresses and mend clothes.
As Mereliss grew, she realised that she wanted more for herself than what she had. In secret, she learnt from her brother how to use a spear and shield. She would strive to be a shieldmaiden, like in the tales of old.
Leofstan, ever eager to prove his mettle, joined Régnwald's éored in the defence of Stangard.
News reached home of the events in Stangard, Mereliss, eager to seek news of her brother, departed to Forlaw...
