General Details

Full Name: Bairandir (not a birthname)

Common Name: This depends on his whereabouts.

Titles;

  • < >; meaning Elf Friend, Bairandir came to earn this name during his brief stay with the Elves of Imladris (travelling through the Trollshaws, and with the great friendship between the Elves and the Dunedain, Imladris was the greatest option). This name was given to him by Gloren. < >; meaning Fair Pilgrim, this name was earned after Bairandir’s stay with a company of rangers North of Bree. The title references both his pale skin and his kind heart.< >; meaning High Sword, the name was given to Bairandir after a skirmish south of Angmar. Bairandir slew seventeen of the sixty-three foes faced, and so the name was given to him.< >; meaning Hidden Light, this was a name that Bairandir came to be called after an incident within the caves of the Trollshaws. Personas

    Breelands;

    A tall, yet hunched, figure approaches you. He bears no beard, though the mess that is his hair shows his lack of grooming, and his eyebrows are thin. His eyes are a cold grey, though they could be mistaken for green, and his figure is slender, and slightly underfed. This man’s name is Had Thistlemead, and you know him to be a woodsman; you recall seeing him in Combe many a time, where his primary work happens. He is not a particularly old man, though his bent figure makes him appear to be several decades older.

    Lands of the Elves;

    The Elves are great friends of the Dunedain, and such personas, being lies, would never be used.

    Lands of the Dwarves;

    Erebor: before you is a tall, proud-looking man with broad shoulders and a straight back. He has a layer of rough, scattered stubble for a beard, and his hair is long and clean; it is brushed well, and one can tell this man spends a great deal of time worrying about his appearance. The man is middle-aged, though the final drops of youth are still apparent on his face. You remember him to be a peddler, a travelling salesman whom mostly deals in wines and other brews. You also remember that once, after offering you a taste of a fine red, he told you that his name was Brannoric Talding.

    The West: just then, a man crashed into you; he seemed to be in quite the hurry. As both of you stood up, you saw him to be a young man with a face showing no sign of old age. After apologising, the man told you his name; it was quite familiar. You now remember whom he is; a roguish swordsman and actor called Verin the Dancer. You are certain that he is the same man whom danced and swung about a blade in the last trader’s fair! He wears the same black, lush hair and he has the same unscarred face. Even his figure, slightly bent back as though he was sticking out his chest far too much, is the same; indeed it is quite unique.

    Rohan;

    The Old Man: an old man with greying hair and a wrinkled face walks into the inn. Men rise to their feet, cheering. He has a straight back, and his feet are steady. Once he sits to order a drink, you lean over to your right, to ask about him; you learn that he is in fact a war-veteran! You are told that he is Eoran Occa Elfingson. His name brings memory of his person back to you, and you are astonished that he is still alive.

    The Mysterious Knight: a tall man with long black hair and a clean-shaven face enters the hall, and courtiers seem to fall to their very knees. The man, you remember, is Thorondir. Though mystery shrouds this man, all know that he once rode into battle alongside kings! Having served as a captain, he rode alongside even King Thengel.

    Gondor;

    A tall man with long black hair and a clean-shaven face enters the hall, and courtiers seem to fall to their very knees. You recognise the man at once to be Thorondir. Though mystery shrouds this man, all know that he once rode into battle alongside kings! Having served Steward Ecthellion II himself, he is well-known.

    The Shire;

    As a Dunedan, Bairandir is bound by oath (command of his chief) to not enter the Shire. Like all other Dunedain, he may not enter the Shire, and is thus forced to remain on the borders. He has no persona here.

    Physical Appearance

    Brief Description: Before you is a tall man with handsome, yet rough, features. He is slender, yet still muscular, and he looks to be no older than thirty. His hair is long, reaching just-below his shoulders, and he has no beard.

    Body form: Slender, yet muscular; slightly broad shoulders, yet only slightly broader than the average.

    Scarring on limbs: No scarring on limbs.

    Scarring on body: No scarring on body.

    Skin tone: Pale; Caucasian [if real life terms are used]

    Hair colour: A dark brown-black.

    Eye colour: A silvered grey.

    Hairstyle: Long (reaching below the shoulders). Following the traditional style of Numenoreans.

    Beard: No beard (Dunedain with beards is controversial [we know the Numenoreans could grow beards, but we also know it was ‘strict tradition’ (that is, no one did otherwise) for them to keep a clean shave – yet in the wild it is hard to do that much – yet shaving can be done with any straight blade]).

    Major Physical Distinctions;

    • If his age is known, the strange lack of aging.

    Personal Skills

    Education: Bairandir was raised to be a ranger; he possesses the skills needed for as much, ranging from combat to ranging in the wild to herblore, and more.

    Languages known: The Common Tongue [of men], Sindarin [technically this is the Common Tongue – something that few know], Quenya.

    Reading: Bairandir can read.

    Writing: Bairandir can write.

    Style of handwriting (if applicable): Cursive and clean.

    Riding: Bairandir can ride with great skill (his time in Rohan improved his ability to ride greatly).

    Workmanship / Craftsmanship: Due to his occupation, Bairandir requires of himself the ability to fletch and work with wood. He is a keen forester, and he often makes his own bows, and the arrows that they need.

    Cooking: Bairandir can cook, though he is far from a master chef (though, one should note, ‘anyone’ can ‘cook’ – simply heat up something, such as meat, to eat. Of course, there are varying levels of skill and success).

    Social Skills: Bairandir is a good speaker, though he may often appear to be introverted (for indeed, he does not always wish to speak; especially when those whom he does not know, or want to know, are concerned).

    Personality

    Brief description: Dependant on his surroundings (his personas also affect his personality greatly); Bairandir can be a kind, or rough, individual. He can sometimes be locked in deep thought, or he can be free and careless. Sometimes he is welcoming, and at others he is simply awkward.

    Distinctions in Personality;

    • Many personas mean that Bairandir is often required to change the way he acts.

    Personal Beliefs

    General Philosophical beliefs: Duty and loyalty are two traits that all individuals must have. A dead foe is greater than a living one, yet often a living enemy is more useful. The rest is to be filled in.

    Political belief: Not applicable. The Chieftain (Aragorn) is chieftain, and all loyalties to people are lesser than loyalty to the chieftain.

    Religious belief: Religious in the sense that Tolkien has applied religion. That is vague, but all that can be said.

    Opinions on the races; To be filled in.
