A farmboy at heart, Welbeck is stout and loves a good meal.  Built for plowing fields and hard work, he's very much at home behind his shield.  

As a youth, Jon was working fields and tending horses in Rohan, One day he set out on a long hunting trip, upon his return he noticed smoke rolling up from the valley his home lay in.  some time while he was away bandits of unknown origin slaughtered his family and sacked the farm.  He gathered what he could, loaded his horse and  set off for his uncles farm far to the south of the Brandywine river. 

His uncle worked him hard but also trained him to fight and use his wits. on a trade trip to the market in Bree, young Jon was abandoned at the Prancing Pony when his Uncle dropped dead from old age.  Alone again Welbeck set off north into the Breefields and found a home and family that took him in and raised him.  

He's ever wandering and learning what he can about the people or things that destroyed his life in Rohan
