With his long orange hair and outgoing personality, Chumbly will always be sure to grab attention.  He likes bright colours and sparkly things, and likes to dream of quests where he can one day make enough silver that he can build a little inn at his birthplace of Little Delving, so that he does not have to walk so far.

Chumbly likes to hear tales and poems, which give him ideas of journeys he will one day make.  But there again the Shire is so comfortable.  And he is scared of everything! Even his own shadow!

He hopes to meet a fine Hobbit lass to share his life with, but quite often frightens them off by being too loud.  He thinks of himself as shy, nothing could be further from the truth - although he does blush easily, at the sight of a hobbit lass (especially Miss Tibba).

On the rare days and evenings where he is not hard at work down the farmyard, he likes to let his hair down and dance and drink at the inn.  But his gaffer works him hard, and he is known to take the blame for most mishaps on the farm (and to tell the truth his clumsy nature is often to blame).  He does however bake a fine pie, which he sees as the key to the heart of a hobbit lass one day.
