Arandhaer Aelesar

Son of Isildhel, son of Faradaer

Early Life

Arandhaer Aelesar was born to Isildhel son of Faradaer in Dol Amroth, Westen Gondor into minor Nobility. His descent from the House of Elros of Númenórë, is all but forgotten to history other than by the Dúnedain Rangers. He grew up in a modest home in Dol Amroth, not far from the military barracks; which certainly influenced Arandhaer in his formative years. Losing his mother at a young age, he spent many-a-day watching his father training new recruits into the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth.

He has a brother Edanhir who continued to serve with the Gondorian Military after Arandhaer left having been selected to join the Rangers of Ithilien. Their mother died giving birth to Edanhir when Arandhaer was 11 years old.

Personality

Arandhaer is a skilled swordsman, talented leader of men. He is both comfortable in command of others, and traveling on his own. His weakness is his short temper, which sometimes may see him make a decision based on what his heart feels, as opposed to what his head tells him. This has both gotten him into tricky situations, and helped him take advantage of opportunities that presented themselves to him. 

Service to Gondor

Arandhaer was tutored into the Gondorian military from a young age, training as a captain and leader of men. His first command was of an outpost on the far eastern border of Gondor before seeing active duty against the Corsairs of Umbar. After showing skill in battle and leadership potential he was sent south with a garrison to set up a post on the far southern border of Gondor's border with Harad. The post was solidly defended for several months before, due to being undersourced, the garrison had to fall back to Ithilien.

Ranger of Ithilien

After decades in service to Gondor, Arandhaer journeyed East to find the Rangers. He passed through Osgiliath and joined up with a company in the forests of the area. 

In the Red Company

When Halbarad instigated the creation of the Grey Company and headed east, Arandhaer instead decided to follow Adilyr Nolondil and joined the Red Company. A unique band tasked with the protection of Eriador.

Arandhaer was present at a meeting to discuss the Company and one of it's members having possession of a Morgul blade. Arandhaer was commanded to ride ahead to Imladris and speak with the Elf-folk there under Elrond Half-Elven. He informed them of the possession of the Morgul blade and a strange stone and the soon arrival of the Red Company to Imladris; seeking guidance on the subsequent journey to Lothlorien.
