Background
Born into the noble dwarf-clan of House Valantris, Volbroin is the younger son of Salgalin, the Lord of Frithdal. The prospect of inheriting his father's lordship is slim, give that his elder brother Calgalin is the heir apparent. Despite this, he has dedicated his life to upholding the interests of his family and the city of Frithdal. Although named after his grandfather, who fought and fell at the Battle of Azanulbizar, Volbroin is not considered a great warrior. Instead, he has become adept in political intrigue and the art of diplomacy. Taking example from his father's advocacy of peace and amity, Volbroin has represented House Valantris as an ambassador on numerous diplomatic envoys across the West. From the Hobbits of the Shire to the Men of Dale, he has encouraged alliances and trade with many of the Free Peoples. This is not to say that Volbroin is pacifistic, as his diplomatic approach always represents (sometimes forcefully) the interests and security of House Valantris and Frithdal.
