Outward Appearance

Cerandel likes to stick to the shadows; and his face is usually obscured by cloth. When it is visible however, Cerandel's face is handsome but rugged, a consequence of a life in the wilderness. Observant green eyes peek out from his face covering, alert for signs of danger. Long dark brown hair hangs from Cerandel's head, and when he isn't hooded, his hair is tied back in a high ponytail and secured by golden cord.

Cerandel is tall with a slender build. He is usually clad in dark greens and browns, allowing him to vanish into the forest background. Belts and pouches are strung about his body. So too are various knives for crafting as well as fighting. A bow always adornes his back and a pair of daggers hang from his belt. Cerandel is rarely seen out of his hunting garb, but on occasion his woodland camouflage is replaced by an elegant elvish tunic, white as pearl and laced with golden thread.

While Cerandel is not one for large public gatherings, he can sometimes be found at a tavern, enjoying a rest. Conversations are rare, but when the need arises, Cerandel is as graceful as any elf, albeit a little more reserved.

Background

Early Life

Cerandel was born to Tathren and Ioreth in the Third Age (approx T.A. 2000), in what was then the woodland realm of Greenwood the Great. Cerandel had a brother, Gwerenon, whom he was very close to and learned to forage, climb and track beasts together.

Disappearance

One morning, after a few days of tracking beasts in the Greenwood, Cerandel and Gwerenon returned home to find their parents missing, without a trace. Nothing of value had been taken from the house, nor any signs of a fight. The only clue to the mystery was a package left in the hallway, containing a pair of daggers and a bow of willow.

The brothers began to investigate the mysterious disappearance of their parents, a mission that would last dozens of years and take them through Rhovanion, south through Ithilien and up the coast to Lindon. During this time the brothers honed their survival skills; tracking, hunting and the knowledge of the weather and elements. With the weapons from home, Gwerenon became adept at the using knives and Cerandel at archery.

The Death of Gwerenon

It was upon returning to the Greenwood, where by now the sickness from Dol Guldur had spread, that the brothers chose to abandon their fruitless mission. Instead, they engaged in the subterfuge of the forces of the Necromancer, ambushing patrols and setting traps for the enemy.

It was during an ambush of a supply train when the brothers were set upon by Balchoth, Easterlings who lived east of Mirkwood. The brothers managed to escape the trap, but not before Gwerenon was pierced by a poisoned arrow as they fled. In hiding, Cerandel was unable to prevent the poison spreading, and days later, Gwerenon succumbed to his wounds.

Current Mission

Enough time has passed since the death of his brother that the anger and rage has subsided, however bitterness still remains in Cerandel's heart. Still working in the shadows and using the skills learned together with his brother, Cerandel prowls Middle Earth, seeking to avenge his brother's death.
